Protesters in Albuquerque wrapped a chain around the neck of a bronze statue and began tugging and chanting, "Tear it down," shortly before sunset on Monday. Their efforts to pull down a monument of Spanish conquistador Juan de Oñate suddenly stopped as four shots rang out.

My profession doesn’t affect public opinion regarding oppression, rights violations, and government trust. Apples and Oranges. Those are two totally different scenarios. What you think about the transportation industry and the transportation industries actions themselves don’t affect the people’s trust in government. A train engineer doesn’t represent the government.


If this keeps up, there will come a point where no trust and support will be given to the police at all. It’s already happening. Republicans and Libertarians are starting to take accountability measures. More and more people are waking up. More and more law abiders are starting to see that it’s becoming an “us vs anyone else” from the law enforcement perspective.

Law enforcement needs the trust of the people for government to work. Without it, war will eventually ensue and just like I’ve said in the past, the war will not be against Antifa and Pussy Hat wearers. They aren’t going to be the ones to try and stop the 3 percenters.

So far, but I wouldn't count on that continuing unless we can reverse the erosion of trust very quickly.

Certainly you are much less safe doing your job than you were a year ago because of this environment.

As we have seen many times in the last few weeks, the loss of that support means that you might lose that job even though you did nothing wrong.

And even if you manage to avoid the circumstances that would cause you to have to choose between your safety and your job, like the guy with the stolen tazer yesterday, the job might just go away because the budget is eliminated.

Support may not be the exact word and for sure isn't the only word.
You do need the TRUST of the people to do your job effectively. You also need respect, (I'm not talking the "yes sir, no sir BS) Other wise you get flat tires , keyed cars, spit on your burgers (or worse) or maybe even shot while eating lunch. With trust and respect comes the assistance of the public.
Without the support and respect, many crimes will go unsolved. Why should you care? Because sooner or later the taxpayers (remember them? Without them you wouldn't have the great pay and bennies) would get fed up and insist on sweeping changes and that means some cops would lose their jobs.
So in a nut shell, you should want the support of the public.
As much as I bitch about bad cops it is the BAD ones I bitch about, not just the law breaking ones but also the law avoiding/turn their heads and didn't "see" it lazy ass ones that are getting paid to do a job but don't do it!
While on this rant I think every one of these mayors/governor's that tell the police to "stand down" and not do their job should be held liable for all the costs incurred. That would include damages from protesters and the payroll for officers to just stand around.

Lies like michael brown are happily promoted by all major media outlets and politicians. How can police better their image when they are held accountable for not just the things they did wrong but also right?

What is the biggest issue facing the black community? It sure as hell isn't police. I wonder if even the most ardent blm supporter thinks it is. They drive through a black community in which a massive percentage of young men are not working, most kids have no father in sight, they think this is the police's fault?

Are you going to shoot somebody who starts taking down a statue? What is the purpose of the gun exactly and when do you use it? The same question to guys in front of stores. If somebody starts throwing bricks at the store--not at you--will you shoot them?

At what point do you engage? It's really easier said than done figuring out how to deal with this.

I don't believe most of these people defending stores, etc. have truly thought what the escalation procedure is going to look like and whether it's a good idea or not.

I do not know what they can do at this point, only that they have to find a way to fix this if they want to be able to do their job.

There is an entire industry based around controlling public perception, they should probably engage them.

I doubt they will have trouble with too make wokesters in that industry. The type of people who work there only care about one color, how green is your money.
