Didn't watch the video, but I can say in my opinion, that triggers should absolutely be covered completely. Especially with a striker fired pistol with no safety. Just ask the guy who shot himself in the dick and balls with his Hi-Point.

I did watch the video. He makes some good points. I also read the report about Mr. Hi Point dick & balls that @ArmedCorgi referenced. It would seem that it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Okay. He makes some valid points. Plus he has a Batman ring on, so that counts for something. One thing I am curious about is what about looking when you re-holster? Do most negligent discharges happen with instances of people trying to re-holster without looking while they are doing it? I feel like watching the re-holstering with your eyes, you will see if there is a problem before the gun goes off.

What he says has some merit. However, you are supposed to look at what you are doing when reholstering. Reholstering is never supposed to be a quick action and if you find yourself reholstering multiple times a day, then you are wearing your holster wrong.
I have gone weeks without ever taking my gun out of its holster. When I need to disarm, the holster comes off with it. That's why I'm not a fan of 2 clip holsters when wearing it IWB.

Why do you need to reholster several times a day?
I can't carry in work. Gun stays in car, double hook holster stays on pants.
That's why I've gone to single clip iwb. When I I remove the gun the holster comes with it. When I get dressed in the morning gun and holster go on together.

It's not as easy as a 1 clip holster. I can remove a 1 clip holster just the same as a draw with one hand. Same goes with putting it back on.
I'm using an alien gear. It's like a crossbreed, the clips are a foot or more apart. It doesn't really go in or out unless you're getting dressed. I also use a single stack in a single clip kydex which is admittedly much better for moving and removing, but the alien gear and larger gun is actually more comfortable the way I have it set up.
I watched the video and hes has a point. I also think the full cover people have a point. Again as long as it's a quality holster I think both are acceptable.

I'll say this. He showed how if a pencil got stuck between the trigger and holster the trigger couldn't go all the way back. For one that's with his particular gun. And 2 what if it was something thicker like a marker? Small flashlight?
Same. Well it's a bit fiddly but I am a firm believer in leaving the gun it the holster as much as possible.

The only time ive witnessed a ND was about 5 years ago at an outdoor range.
A guy reholstering his glock when it fired. Luckily the round went into the ground.
Exactly what TYM says can happen, did happen.
He used his trigger finger on the outside of his leather holster to guide his gun into the holster. He pushed a bit too firm and the leather folded in and he forced the gun.
His holster had a flimsy piece of leather covering the entire trigger hole.
I dont know if a half covered trigger would have helped.

Oh yea, on that same day a guy tried to figure out if he had shot 5 rounds or 6 rounds by turning his revolver sideways and pulling the trigger. He shot a car in the parkinglot. His bullet passed 4 feet in front of several people on the line.

Cover trigger or not, it's what you know, muscle memory! Complacency breeds contempt. Don't sleep, don't get lazy! Treat every time as your first!
For the matter, the hi point ball shooter was appendix carrying and would be the root mean cause of blowing his balls off, lol, not the holster. Lol. Can't imagine how much pain that sicker is in right now. Plus, he'll forever have incontinence issues too as a constant reminder. Good stuff!

I just recorded myself. One clip holster is superior for disarming yourself.
Yes yes and yes. There are more then enough stories and article scattered across the web and some on the site as well. I love the ones where people buy those belt clips that attach to the frame of a glock or some other striker-fire and then post pictures of how they shot themselves.

I look at that as a negative. I have had singe clips wiggle off my belt while sitting in the past. Pull the dot loops for the win.

It's never, ever happened to me with multiple single clip holsters. You have to pull the clip outwards in order to pull up.

I have a Striker fired and have always put my thumb on the back of the slide when putting it in the holster. I have a Kydex single clip and Leather 2 clip IWB's.
