Should New York recognize pistol permits from other states?

Agreed. If they decide to make us have permits they should be acceptable anywhere in the USA.

At most I'd be willing to accept identification cards. But not as a requirement.
Just a simple mark on the license to say a person is allowed to own a gun. That's it. NO registry, no copying down my serial numbers, no knowing what I own. Only that I am, or am not, "allowed" to own a gun based on criminal background.

I see nothing in the constitution about no weapons for criminals or citizens

Judge = punish criminals

I always wondered why Im a perfectly legal in 90% of the country, but as soon as I cross a line in dirt, im a criminal/felon. Moreover, Im so legal in 28 states, I could slap a firearm to my hip and walk right down the damn street and no one would care. So why does New Yorkistan believe Im a criminal if I carry a firearm for self-defense??

The permits as they are today are a joke because no amount of permits is going to stop thugs, gangs lunatics and their crimes.
At the same time it should be very simple to have some very basic measures to prevent a mentally sick person from buying or carrying a gun the same way they cannot get many jobs.
We probably would not have to worry about that if they were inside proper mental institutions getting the help they need in the first place.

The Sullivan act would have to go away first. Handguns are illegal in NY unless on a license. So it would have to cease being law before other state permits can be recognized.

You are correct. I know of a few corrections officers that have told me pretty much the same thing in one way or another.
Fundamentally, it is social undermining of such "institutions" that led to this.
In other words, when people hear "Psych Ward", they deem it as derogatory in the world we live in now.
That should be the easy part.
Didn't the Supreme Court already decide that they can't ban an entire class of arms?
Since the initial premise is that all handguns are banned unless special permission is asked for and granted it should be a no-brainer to get it thrown out.
NY doesn't even recognize NY licenses to carry in most places according to the latest gibberish called a law.

There is nothing in the penal code that would allow New York to recognize licenses from other states.
Anything short of National Reciprocity passing (which that traitorous RINO Paul Ryan personally blocked while House Speaker), or SCOTUS somehow ruling that all lawful citizens can carry ANYWHERE, there is absolutely ZERO possibility of NYS ever recognizing out of states CCW’s.
WTF, NYShitty won’t even recognize CCW permits of NY citizens residing outside of that shithole (the 5 boroughs) And that cancerous crap attitude is spreading beyond NYC to Westchester, Nassau, and other counties as well.
EDIT: Actually, I suppose there is a faint possible way it could happen that we get allowed to carry in NY,- if Judge Sinatra rules that we can carry on subways (because public transit in his District does include a subway in Buffalo). Then if the 2nd Circuit overrules that, and SCOTUS were to take it up, and actually rule in our favor,- how could they rule that subways in Buffalo were required to allow CCW holders, but subways elsewhere in NY did not have to?
