No. They are required to treat emergencies but they aren’t required to treat everyone or every life threatening condition. Doctors openly refuse to treat certain lifestyles that are behavior based or refuse to do certain procedures all the time . In part because people can’t shop around for another doctor in an emergency. And just because the license requires the doctor to treat him or her doesn’t make it right. That’s an issue you seem to be having in this thread and others. Just because laws are passed and that’s the way it is, it doesn’t make it right. It wasn’t right to require proper cause yet here we are.
What the license should entail is competency. That requirements are met to be able to treat people. Not who they have to treat. That’s like requiring a pilot who owns a private plane to fly anyone to wherever they want. Or requiring a gun shop owner to sell to an 18 year old kid that looks and is acting suspiciously. Or a drug store owner to sell spray paint to kids dressed like antifa after a rash of vandalism in the area.
His business, his rules. He reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.
Can a doctor refuse someone because of their race? No. But that’s under equal protection by accepting that license, Medicare/Medicaid etc under federal law. Most of those EEO stuff is under state law.
