Should we have separate forums for firearms and non-firearms politics

BG, with due respect, I came here b/c the place wasn't bought out by anti-gunners (although the Iranians and Indians cited in a different thread here might think differently
) but bluntly, politics is a part of American life, and gun politics is a hot topic. If we can clearly delineate the political part from the actual sporting/technical/non-political part of gun ownership, then we satisfy both camps. Personally, I relish both the political and technical aspects of these sites, as I am challenged in both regards, and I learn a lot from all the discussions.

Yeah, all the other gun sites i participate in talk predominantly about guns, with a bit of politics, ofcourse.
Nyf is predominantly a forum about politics with almost no talk of guns.
I am just saying i prefer the 1st type of forum better.

I guarantee that if things get bad nationally in regards to guns, you'll have major politics posts on Sigtalk, XD forums, Glock, ect.
Politics don't affect those forums because gun laws don't affect the majority of the people there.
When it does affect them, politics goes up. As a perfect example, on Arfcom under the New England section, gun talk was slow. The minute CT got their laws, it was overwhelmed with politics that arfcom had to remove CT from the New England Section and given their own section. Looks at Calguns. Politics. MDShooters. Politics.
You cannot get away from it unless you join a free state's forum.
If it bothers people so much, just don't click on that section. It's not rocket science.

I get it. I'm just saying it's up to us as members of this forum to delineate to the admins how we want the political/non-political crap separated. Unfortunately, as stated long ago, "all politics is local", which implies that the political nature of any topic is up to the individual (meaning that identity politics is left out) so a perfect balance will never be met. Only the socialists can achieve the perfect unity of purpose, and I ain't no effing comrade... so we struggle for a reasonable balance. It might take some time to get that balance.

The other gun sites are likely in Free America and don't have to worry about silly restrictions like a non-pistol grip, muzzle device and "shoulder thing that goes up". Ideally all we'd talk about is guns, freedom, and accessories, but that's not the reality of this state. Until that changes, almost everything gun-related is political.
And NirvanaFan, I voted but wanted to say I'd support a separate non-firearms political sub-forum. Part of my dislike of NYF were the hundreds of sub-forums that make it difficult to follow everything. As long as we don't go too overboard with that here I think we'll be fine..
