This seems like a very practical and well thought out weapon. I'd like to see our military trial this thing. Plus it looks like something right out of a Robocop movie.
Of all the military hardware out there, this ranks pretty high on the list of stuff I'd want to own.Seems like a nice plinking gun. Couple boxes on a Saturday afternoon.
No muzzle device, no conspicuously downward protruding grip, 6 round magazine, no bayonet lug, no collapsing/folding stock......... its NYS compliant!at only $15- $20 per round, everyone should have this deer rifle
.50 cal hasn't been banned here yet?.50 cal is the largest center fire cartridge allowed in NY and most states without a DD license, unless the cartridge is deemed a hunting cartridge, and if 20mm was, this would be in my stable.
Go buy a 10ga shotgun, it's ~20mm and allowed in NY..50 cal is the largest center fire cartridge allowed in NY and most states without a DD license, unless the cartridge is deemed a hunting cartridge, and if 20mm was, this would be in my stable.
Actually this had occurred to me. Doesn't 12 gauge work out to be .73 caliber or some such?Go buy a 10ga shotgun, it's ~20mm and allowed in NY.
It's the ammo that makes this thing nice, not the size.
10 gauge isn't that much more at .77, 19.7 mm. so pretty close to the 20mm gun. But the loads for that will probably be impossible to come close to replicating in a 10 gauge due pressures unless someone designed it as such.Actually this had occurred to me. Doesn't 12 gauge work out to be .73 caliber or some such?
Of course 20mm Vulcan projectiles are several times heavier than than even the heaviest 12g slugs.
The point is that it uses the 20x102 projectile. This is a 20x42 and not the 20x102 so it's not the 20mm I think most of us are thinking. If it was 20x102 I think you still wouldn't be able to make it shoulder fired. I mean you could but it would be a single shot because the shooter would be dead afterwards. But I think we're missing the big picture. This thing shoots a subsonic projectile. So you could send a 20mm projectile downrange, explode the deer and no one would be the wiser.
I agree. The 20mm projectile is awesome. My point was that it's not the round that most people probably thought it was. It's a really scaled down version of it. To put it into perspective, the case of a 556 is 45mm. For this round it's not even that. Imagine trying to fire this from that tiny gun.The point is that it uses the 20x102 projectile.
I belive that its something in the neighborhood of 1500gr? According to Ian the muzzle velocity is 1000fps. that is still a shit ton of energy. In comparison the full 20x102mm round does something like 3,500fps out of the M61 Vulcan cannon.
10Ga is a pea shooter.Go buy a 10ga shotgun, it's ~20mm and allowed in NY.

This 20mm grenade launcher is closer to a 10ga than a 700 nitro..
10Ga is a pea shooter.
I've owned many 700 nitro mag's and other big bore double rifle's in my time, Even a black powder 8 bore rifle, when you could afford to buy one.
I've shot some 20mm rifles too and would never fire one in an unsupported shoulder fired version.
One day I fired my 50 bmg bench rifle without the brake. That rifle weighed 45lbs and it only took one round to school me.
Luckily I removed the scope before I fired it.
Sounds like a really big semi auto 10 gauge shotgun. This thing shoots a 3.5oz projectile at 1000fps folks. More like a shotgun slug, albeit an extremely heavy slug.
But such discussions miss the point of yhis weapon. The point of this weapon, like all other grenade launchers is to deliver an explosive payload to the target. The comparatively high velocity of this particular grenade is merely to simplify aiming it via the flatter trajectory.

Wasn't a serious statement guy. I just thought it was funny that other than the caliber it was in a "complaint" configuration.Greater than .50 I thought was illegal?
