I'd return it and never buy from him again. A 1911 is actually unsafe depending on the type you have with a round in the chamber and the hammer down. It can actually fire if something hits the hammer like the pavement on a fall or a mistake by you trying to decocking it. Some have firing pin blocks and some do not.

And why is this holster it? Why is it either this holster or leaving it at home. Get another holster from a reputable company. You aren't married to him.

I would never settle on a holster that made my weapon unsafe or could possibly get me killed because I needed two hands to cock it. It can be done one handed but at a compromise of your grip which can make the weapon fall out of your hand under stress or in a fight.

Your other hand can be compromised using it to fend off an attack.

The pretty penny you paid for it and the beauty of the holster is not worth a compromise on safety or your life.

Well hold on now, like I said earlier about technique mitigating risk, while we may not find it ideal, I'm sure masterswimmer has put the time in to make it workable.

Thanks masterswimmer I was aware that this manufacturer made his holster in this manner. Since I would not be carrying a 1911 style pistol it would not have any impact on my decision.
