Sig P320 in the news again..

I'm pretty sure the early Glock 20's (10mm) also had issues such as the chambers not being fully supported. Also the polygonal barrels, while great from an accuracy standpoint, don't fare well with hardcast lead bullets, which is arguably contradicting one of the main reasons a person might pick up a 10mm to begin with.
So while Glocks are reliable, they are far from perfect and have had their fare share of hiccups. To their credit, Glock does seem quick to correct an issue as soon as it is recognized. I think their main advantage isn't that they are exponentially more reliable than any other brand, but rather that they offer decent reliability and performance for a very reasonable price.
Here is my thing like you said glock (and other companies) jump right in and say give us these guns back we need to fix xy and z, I'd have less of an issue if sig did that vs denying any issue, blaming the users, then there is nothing wrong but if you want to send the gun to us we will change some stuff.
As for glock perfection honestly horrible marketing for a long term company.
I am no glock fan girl (though there maybe some on here that will say I am) but what I like about them is they are reliable and the aftermarket support, I can have 12 G19s from 12 different people and we could all have our guns set up completely different but exactly how the owner wants it from trigger to slide, barrel even grip if you want to spend the cash and wait the time.
As for price point meh they are i think pricing themselves a bit high lately, Smith and Wesson 2.0 line is priced awesome same with CZ just to name 2.
And if I wasn't already heavily invested with Glock I'd have an m&p 2.0 compact for sure maybe
I don't own a Glock, and probably never will, but I certainly appreciate their qualities. However there is certainly some fanboydom (or fangirldom) that surrounds that brand, and that mentality usually translates into trashing other brands. They did have issues with their early .40's and 10mm's, arguably because they rushed to be the first ones to market for those cartridges. From everything I hear, its commonplace to switch out the 10mm's barrels because the factory polygonal barrels can't handle hardcast lead rounds....you could argue that customization is part of the fun of owning a Glock, but you could also argue Glock should've anticipated how these 10mm's would be used and designed them appropriately.
Just about every other major firearm brand has aftermarket support as well. Arguably some of those other brands don't have the same scope of aftermarket support, but then again there is probably only so much that someone would want or need to change out on a Sig P226 or Beretta 92a1. In my mind, that's a defining aspect of Glock-ownership: a preference for modifying and buying aftermarket accessories. Whereas a lot of people will pick up a Beretta DA/SA and leave it mostly stock.
As for Sig's screw up: I'm sure as time passes we will get more clarity on the subject, and any identified problems will be addressed. The selection process for the Sig wasn't very rigorous or competitive, unlike previous firearm selections, but people have a tendency to rush to judgement on these firearms before they've had a fair shake. When the M9 was initially selected, a lot of people criticized it for being weak and prone to catastrophic failures (slide cracking). It turned out that while there were some weak areas of the design, which Beretta improved, a lot (arguably most) of the issues stemmed from the use of over-pressure ammunition by certain units. I'm not saying that's the case with the Sig, but we probably need a bit more time to determine whether its truly a junk pistol.

Just to clear up a myth.... hard cast is fine in a factory Glock barrel. Soft lead reloads are not.

We have no way of knowing. If it had a light mounted I’m going to side with sig on this one.
I have read a bunch on ND stories with Glocks and some say it was the fault of Glock because you need to pull the trigger it take them apart.
I have a hard time believing that a pistol went off in a holster by bumping into a table....

Agree on the no way of knowing . However, why would a pistol go off exiting a vehicle unless it was out of the holster? It just doesn’t make sense that an officer would be holstering it exiting a vehicle or holstering it at a school cafeteria when children are present.
