Sig Sauer P226

I was recently offered a good deal on a Sig 226 in 357 Sig.
Its the base model and has around 1000 rounds through it.
Factory night sights and 3, 10 round mags.
In the box with manual.
From what I can find, $500 is a good deal.

I just want to know if this gun has any known issues.........besides being 357 sig?

There are no problems with 226. Was it a CPO when the owner bought it or new? 500 is about right. On Father’s Day, Sig has a sale on EVERYTHING! Send it in to get refreshed ie new springs and a complete cleaning and armorer check. Love me some Sigs especially the German ones.

The P226 is one of the most solid pistols in the world. Any issues would be related to SIG's sadly spotty QC of late. The design itself is outstanding.

Sig 227 is my nightstand gun, and my favorite handgun I own. The 226 is on my short list, IMHO one of the best handguns you can buy.

My buddy bought it new and has probably over 1000 rounds or so through it.
He just bought an M&P 2.0 for CCW.
The Sig is too expensive to have fun with he says.

I don't understand that at all. Once its purchased ots not anymore expensive to use than anything else. The P226 is a very robust pistol that will last a long time.

The 357sig is a great round.
It has a pretty hardy recoil but the 226 is heavy enough that its very manageable.

The ammo is expensive compared to 9mm which is what he switched to.
This dude isnt a gun guy.
He has 1 pistol and a cheapo 870 Express I sold him.

Sig dropped the ball so hard on not pushing for the XM17 to be in .357sig
I mean talk about a marketing fail. The military at the same time had been asking if anyone can give them a harder hitting round with better penetration than a standard 9mm, then they asked for a new side arm, but also never specified what caliber they left that up to the companies and what they wanted to offer

Sig could have come up with a packaged deal for the guns and ammo (even a 9mm conversion barrel to use up the 9mm surplus then transition over to sig produced and supplied .357sig)
