Well today was another waste. I don't know how many miles I ended up walking but my back is done for. When I finally got home the deer were out back

lol..gotta love em. They usually don't pay me any mind, but the reds are still annoying with all the chattering. Two years ago I had a gray slowly work closer and closer to me. I had crackers lol. We had a good conversation for an hour or so. Ok, I had a good conversation, but he was a good listener. Well, I was a good talker he just ate my damn crackers lol. Pretty cool experience anyway. The little chickadees are always hanging around. I kinda like them, they always get really close. I have 4 birds here so I like having the chickadees around.

I'm not seeing many squirrels on my hill this year, just a lot of fox tracks. I'm actually surprised I have had a coyote run through me yet.

Funny thing, since deer season opened I haven't heard the yotes here. It's usually a nightly thing all over the valley, but nothing lately. Since the first week there hasn't been any hunters in the woods other than me. Haven't even seen their tracks in what little snow we've had.

I should have taken a pic of tonights spot, couldn't see a damn thing past 20' most of the time. A big group of doe must have walked out of the woods when the snow was coming down cause I didn't know they were in the field until I stood up to stretch my back. They were walking a dip in the field. Best I could do was sneek over to another tree where I could still see them. I picked the biggest standing there but shot underneath her. Not one of them moved but I couldn't get in my pack for a reload before they finally walked off. After they were gone I walked out to where they were and didn't find any blood, figured I wouldn't. Turned out to be about 100yds, I thought it was 70yds when I shot so I shot low. Oh well, at least it was miss big instead of a poor placed wound.
About 1pm today I came across a deer laying down at about 50 feet from me. I could not see if it was a buck or doe but it didnt matter, I have tags for each. I wasnt sure I wanted to take a face shot so as I thought about it I took a picture, then he jumped up and ran through the thickest crap out there. Ill get his ass tomorrow. Its the same 6 point Ive seen twice before, in the same area. Ill be out at daybreak. Heres the picture, good luck finding him. Ill point it out id nobody can find it, its like wheres Waldo. Trust me, hes there.

That's the way to do it, nice and cozy. I've been tossing the idea around of making a mobile blind using a junk sleeper cab from a tractor trailer and some camo. If I can find a fiberglass one, the aluminum ones are worth too much money in scrap.

I got bit by a chipmunk one time doing something similar. I was feeding it peanuts from my bag of trail mix. I lured it closer and closer until it was within arms reach. I slowly put out my hand, thinking it would take it from me. It used it's paws to balance itself against my hand. What did it do? I figured it would either grab the peanut with it's paws or with it's mouth. Of course not... It decided to bite my finger. I quickly dropped the peanut and pulled my hand away. It grabbed the peanut and it took off. Little Bastard! If anyone ever sees a chipmunk at McIntyre Falls on the trail to Wright/Algonquin/Iroquois from the Adirondack Loj, throw a rock at it for me.
IV been getting tired of the shit weather the last few years, so I built the trump tower this summer.after this season,ill have to build two more.some people say "that's not hunting".well,fuck them!its awesome!!I still hunt stands and stillhunt, but when it pouring rain or snow, I'm in there.gonna put an acre foodplot at the base of the hill below it this spring.that'll be dubbed "central park".

My daughter going to where I told her to sit for our final day in the woods. She stayed just under those pines and a while later, 3 deer came to within 20 - 30 yards of her hiding spot. Always a good student, she has learned it is better to not shoot if you cannot assure a clean kill, and, because she couldn't get a good clear shot on them, she let them pass. We may not have gotten a deer this year, but I am really proud of my kid!
