The art and skill of covertly drawing my firearm still scares the crap out of me. Practice as I might, I'm still a putz. Once out I can put lead down range, just can't draw well.

In a situation like that, it would have been best to run to concealment behind the aisle while drawing. Leave him out in the open. Leave him with a smaller target to shoot at.

Slow horrible draw, Weapon not in fire ready position, Clumsy slow handling prior to aiming, Exposing yourself completely as a silhouette target while moving slowly towards an already drawn weapon. He set himself up for that one real nice. This is one of the worst reactions I think I've seen on the channel so far.

That was exactly my first thought. Looked like he was carrying on an empty chamber and had to cock the hammer to get into battery.
Second, if he wanted to counter-attack from that position, he should have turned a bit more to his right, drawn while concealing his firearm, then quickly rotated left, punched straight out with a solid two-handed grip, and fired (multiple times if needed). As mentioned, taking a knee and firing would have minimized his profile and kept the target square in his sights.
Every course I've attended has always emphasized being able to get several rounds on target fast from within 7 yards (since that is a common engagement distance, statistically, for civilian gun fights). Sure, I've practiced walking & shooting, shooting from prone, and aiming from behind cover. However, the basics of close range accuracy when point shooting is always stressed.
Practice, practice, practice. I practice my draw at home all the time.

I used to but in the past few years that just doesn't happen. I carry in different locations and that's the only excuse I have. I guess I have to rely on my "don't worry about him he's just an old man" stealthy look until I draw, I do KNOW that the first and second rounds will be close together AND on target.

That was pretty piss poor. I feel bad for the guy, but that's the perfect example of "Meh, I have a gun. I'm good". Just an ounce of guncraft and the outcome would likely have been the complete opposite.
