Based upon a conversation in another thread an idea came to mind. The hypothetical...

A new gun advocacy group has formed within NYS. They are specifically NY focused, and have resources, albeit limited to begin with, but may be capable of addressing a focused "assault " to remove 5 terrible NYS gun restriction laws. You may only see 2 or 3 coming to fruition, but the top 5 would be addressed.

In order of importance, 1st being of highest priority, 5th obviously last, and only the top 2 or 3 would have the greatest chance of being overturned, what would your list be?


This should be interesting.

Suppressors
CCW everywhere except maybe "secure" facilities like court rooms (this includes NYC)
Removal of taxes on firearm purchases and ammo - you shouldn't be taxing rights

Your last point is largely a federal matter, I believe.

Not saying I disagree with any of this at all.

That is poor attitude and the main reason our rights have eroded. If we went apeshit insane over every infringement like the left does we might not be in this situation. You don't have any effective state level advocacy organizations in NY. Perhaps you might look into this new one?

3). More support on conceal carry/Support open carry
4). NY State Game Land Ranges like PA
5). Sorry but this was necessary (In school from K-college teach the importance of the 2nd amendment and why there shouldn’t be infringements.)

The PA state ranges suck balls. All kinds of Fuddy restrictions. 3 round magazine limits, no "rapid fire" ect.

You guys aren't being serious or realistic. The left is successful in pushing their bullshit through because they do it incrementally.
In NY getting rid of SAFE Act is top of the list, then the Sullivan Act. If it has to be done in bits and pieces then so be it.

Well, since its a "wish list":

1. Cuomo, Schumer, and James all in a car.
2. Car gets hit by bus.
3. Bus pushed car on train tracks.
4. Train hits car and sends over to other tracks.
5. Another train hits car again, bursts into flames.
6. Fire company sent to help but can't because a protest is blocking the street.

Would be fair to give up all my wishes for some that might make me happier.

How about this...

Any law affecting a Constitutional RIGHT shall not be enacted or valid unless the actual issue is relevant to NY State. The use of statistics, or occurrences outside State borders, or anomalies due to criminal activity shall not be used as a basis to restrict, hinder, encumber it Defacto deny NY State Residents their right to legally exercise 2A activities.

If and when those issues shall arise, within the borders of NY State, these activities and subsequent actions may be reviewed in order to address them.

Likewise, the disconnect and uneven of 2A application by county needs to be standardized. Administrative attachments to licensing shall cease! No judicial activism accepted or allowed as applied to any 2A licensing.

Arbitrary restrictions such as magazine limit shall again, only be valid if and when it's use can be associated with increased crime rates by lawful citizens exercising their 2A rights. Any crime data associated with known criminal organizations or gang related data shall be excluded. The law abiding citizens must be allowed to exist on equal terms with the criminal element.

But firstly... The enacting of Term Limits to all State representatives must be done immediately or all the above is subject to change at the whims or bequest of those who're looking to use 2A issues as a political platform for extending their political careers!

Pfffft...

I guess I will play.

1) 86 the unSAFE act, and not going back to the modified 1994 AWB
2) 86 the Sullivan Act of 1911
3) (this would be a starting point) Become a NFA friendly state, ie: Short Barrel Rifles, Short Barrel Shotguns, Destructive Devices, Suppressors, Machine Guns all become legal per NFA laws (we then focus the fight on getting rid of the NFA all together)
4) would there really be anything left???

Not surprising to see the end of the safe act at the top of the list. It certainly is my number one.

NFA stuff, statewide Shall Issue policy moving to constitutional carry, reverting to current federal regulations after unSAFE Act goes NOT the 94 AWB standards.

NFA is separate from SAFE Act innit? You couldn't have SBRs or suppressors prior could you?
You could get rid of Sullivan and still have a may issue policy in place.

Trust me you won't get any arguments from me about getting rid of the NFA or GCA of 1986 (but I will put money that there are many MANY "Pro 2A" or "Pro Gun" people, including members here on this forum who would be against it)

And NY has been anti NFA items since I believe the 1930s

Only Fudds would be against that. And Fudds aren't people. They should trade their rifles and shotguns in for scythes like elmer.

Agreed but I also agree with the incremental approach too- would love to see suppressors come off the NFA first, followed shortly by SBR's and SBS'. I feel like suppressors should be low hanging fruit if presented well.

Too bad no one gives a fuck at the political level needed to get it done.
