My girlfriend wants a 357 for her first pistol. She wanted a 38 but i told her 357s were magic and could take both in case she got bored with 38s. It's like telling a woman they can get 2 pairs of shoes for the price of 1.

I love the Lady Smith and they take +P rounds, which I believe will stop an aggressor just as easily as 357. I had one decades ago and for the life of me cannot remember where it went.

About 5 yrs before my divorce which was 8 yrs ago, the X was into shooting. I picked her up a Titanium Lady Smith .38 cause that's what she wanted. I walked away from the counter when she was talking to the sales guy. I would have only said something if her firearm would have cost more then any I owned at the time.

My present wife wants a Lady Smith. Now they are up to like $500. She isn't worth $500 but if they drop in price to like $50 I guess she can have one........

I learned. You don't buy anything for a wife that you aren't 100% ready to walk away from. Make them drive your old used cars, cook with your old pots and pans, and buy them cheap clothing you don't care about. If they want more, they can go get a job and buy it themselves. I would not let the old lady get a small framed .40. No effing way. Ever look at the used guns over at Gander Mountain? They are all subcompact and micro .40's bought by people who are beginners and know nothing about firearms that end up trading them in at a loss due to recoil.

Hell, it's hard for me who shoots one a month. If I skip out on my monthly range trip my accuracy goes out the door with that pistol. I love the Kahr trigger too much to give it up. Might grab an MK40 to add a little bit of weight. 14 ounces is too damn light for the 40. To me, 40 and 45 are best left to duty sized pistols. Let the 9s have the compact regime.

I have several handguns. Wife has pick of whichever one she wants. She went through three before choosing what she wanted. So I gave her that one. I purchased two more handguns during the search for what she wanted. I graciously acceded to the additional cost and the additional guns. Now I'm stuck with more guns. Just learned to live with it

My fiancé and I just got our permits in September. The only advise that I gave to her was the caliber size, (9mm). She is not recoil sensitive in any way but I explained that we are going to need to practice a lot and she needs to be able to put more than a few bullets down range to get good. My point hit home, she went by herself to the gun store and spoke with a mutual friend (woman) behind the counter. She picked one out that she liked and felt good in that caliber. I bought it for her the same day we got our permit and she now owns a Glock 26 that I am envious of!

LOL! Boy have you got that right! I sometimes wonder why the "larger" among us buy clothes that plainly don't fit and the head off to wherever thinking they look stunning. Not saying they should be ashamed or anything, but be aware of reality. That applies to men and women equally.
Anyway, my daughter is a gun loving, athletic young lady preparing to head off to college, and someday she will make the right man very happy. They are out there, but I think they don't last long on the open market! Kinda like that mint '66 Mustang selling for $1500.00!

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY, IN NY a wife can share a serial number, use one of your pcs for the permit then take her to the local range, plenty of people are willing to let you test out there guns if asked.
