That would be the Tonawanda Reservation in Basom. The one that I live next to.
The reason I asked is that if you were in my neck of the woods getting cigs there is a DEC shooting spot (Alabama Swamps)
right next to the res. I thought that maybe we could meet and do some target shooting.

But then again being that it is deer season I don't know if shooting is allowed there at this time.
I don't shoot there often. Shooting is not allowed there before noon because of the turkey hunters for an example.
Or so I have been told.

They went into the smoke shops in force with their select fire rifles and ordered the clerks and the customers at gun point face down on the floor.

No laws were broken by the smoke shops, No criminal charges were filed on anyone, But their legal inventory was confiscated.

Not the particular raid that I was referring to.

I know one of the clerks that was ordered face down on the floor at gun point.
Not to be a drama queen but I do remember she was pretty shook up afterwards.

Selling the bath salts was stupid on their part in this case.
They had to know that would bring the heat down on them.

Regarding the video that you posted, they still sell cigs in a bag to this day. That wasn't illegal to start with. The claimed counterfiet purses and jewelry must have been OK because nothing happened with that IIRC. I don't think that any arrests were made in this particular raid... I could be wrong but pretty sure I'm not. I'll ask around today when I'm there out of my own curiosity.

I know some of the Indians well, and I heard all about it from their point of view.

In the video above and in other media they say that bath salts mimic the effects of THC (marijuana)
That is such a bunch of bullshit... It's crazy how the media can either, not have a freakin clue of what they are talking about but report it as fact anyways... That or just flat out lie... Guns are a good example of that... facepalm.

I have never ever seen or heard of anyone acting the way (bath salt users do) after smoking some weed.
I have never heard of someone eating someone's face off after they smoke some weed.
I have never heard of people climbing up on top of a roof and think that they are superman after smoking some weed.
I could use many more examples like those above.

Bath salts may mimic the effects of some drugs (narcotics) but it doesn't mimic the effects of marijuana.

Bath salts are bad shit. There was a problem with some of the bath salt users in the small city of Batavia that's near me.
Man, that stuff is really bad. It makes people that are under the influence of it act bat shit crazy.
There was a head shop and a tattoo parlor that sold bath salts in Batavia and they both got shut down.

TL;DR
- Untaxed cigs on the Indian reservation is around $10 - $20 a carton. Compared to taxed cigs that are $100 - $120 off the res.
- Just like the NY UNSAFE Act, the law regarding untaxed cigs is written in a way to cast as wide of a net as possible.
- The Seneca tribe that's near me is made up of good people IMO. But they will become bad ass if they feel the yoke of tyranny coming down on them.



I get what you are saying, but a lot of people including me buy their cigs on the Indian reservation. Albany gets nothing and I (we) save a ton of money. I pay $2.50 for a pack of untaxed cigs, $21 for a carton and the wife pays $14 for hers. I think that the (taxed) cigs off the reservation cost around $10 - $12 a pack, $100 - $120 a carton... It's a win, win, for me.
I save about $250 a month and Albany gets NO sin tax.

I live real close to the reservation and am on it on a daily basis so it's convenient for me and the rest of us in the area.
But a lot of people have to drive an hour or more to get to the res. Those people that have to drive a somewhat long distance, they buy 10 - 20 or more cartons at a time.

The law regarding untaxed cigs is, a person is allowed to have up to 400 untaxed cigs, or in other words, 2 cartons.
But not really, FACEPALM... Actually, if one pays attention to detail, the way that the law is worded a person is allowed to have 399 untaxed cigs legally not 400 which is conveniently 2 cartons... It's a trick,,, A lot of peoples understanding is that 2 cartons (400 untaxed cigs) is legal. But it is not, 400 untaxed cigs puts a person 1 cig over the limit. And could be charged for tax evasion for that. A class A misdemeanor IIRC.

Just like the NY UNSAFE Act, the law is written in a way to cast as wide of a net as possible. A couple of Sheriff's deputies
in particular would hang out just off the reservation and pull people over for the slightest thing or something that they just made up. Just like they do looking for drunk drivers. But instead of looking for drunk drivers they were fishing for untaxed cigs... They were nailing a lot of people for a while and then it just stopped. I wonder why? I am interested why the deputies stopped doing that. It had to be a gold mine for the local court and Albany.

George Pataki tried to stop the Indians from selling untaxed cigs and it didn't go well for him.
It was kind of like a stare down and Pataki blinked first.

FUAC tried the same thing and it was looking like he was going to be successful. But, the Indians got around FUAC's bullshit by not selling the name brands and producing their own cigs on the reservations. FUAC can't legally do a thing about that.
Sovereign Nation and all... FUAC!!!




This looks like a invasion by NYS on sovereign territory to me... All because Albany is missing out on tax money.
Before the smoke shops, the Indians were living in utter poverty. They found a business model that helped the people
living on the res crawl out of poverty............ And that's a bad thing? ... Fuck Albany and the NYC politicians.

The Reservation that I live near consists of the Seneca tribe. I know a lot of them well.
They are good people IMO but they will not hesitate to fuck people up if they know that they are being wronged.

Yes.

The other raid when they ordered the clerks and customers face down on the floor
the Genesee County Sheriff's Dept. was also involved. IIRC the Sheriff's Deputies were in a backup / support role.

I think that there are a couple of reasons why the police go there with overwhelming force.
