Why kill hundreds or thousands of footsoldiers, when you can kill a single leader ?

The USSR changed overnight when Stalin died.

As would North Korea if Kim were killed.

However, we are not at war with NK, and should not be attempting regime-change without active hostilities.

Wars often end badly for everyone.

I will respond with an almost echo.

I have stated that him being dead is a good thing. The way it occurred, I am fine with that. My point to the majority of my posts in this thread are in referance to how some are so happy, they are glad and elated. All ggo, but for all those that are so tickled pink about it; just curious how many would volunteer to be there when the terror begins to strike our homeland. Who will be there standing in line, being first in line to take that hit?

This is somewhat my thinking as well.

Iran realizes they aren't up against Obama anymore. They aren't up against hollow threats and fake red lines. They know that. They know they pushed too far.

They don't want to be destroyed (I don't personally think at least) although some pundits claim they are nothing more than a suicide cult to bring out their perceived Armageddon and judgement, I'm personally not so sure.

They also have to find a way to save face. They can't just sit there and do nothing. They are a brutal totalitarian religious theocratic Regime so they have to respond somehow to maintain credibility and save face to keep their regime in power at home. They also don't want to be regime changes by the US so they will probably make calculated decisions on how to lash out in a calculated way that won't risk our wrath. I predict a few examples like;

Attacking an oil tanker or 2
Attacking Christians in Iraq or elsewhere
Maybe a cyber attack on certain businesses
I don't know. They will respond but I don't think it will go too far to provoke a massive counter attack.

And Iran has been asking for it for a long time.

I do not wish to see the United States at war, especially in a far off land. On the other hand, I'm an American, and I support my country, but never blindly. Do I want to see our sons and daughters put in harm's way? Nope.

Sometimes I post things that I feel are humorous, to break the tension. I see far too many threads here that deteriorate rapidly into pointless bickering, far off the topic of the original post.

I try to always post the truth, no matter how bitter of a pill it is to swallow sometimes. I also have opinions, most of which I try to keep to myself. Please don't talk to me like I am an innocent naive child, who one day will see the light.

I'll be the first to admit, I don't know all the intricate details of world politics, and world affairs, and likely never will.

I've never sat in a fully-armored Suburban, getting fully briefed, on what's REALLY going on in the world, after my inauguration. On the flip side, I don't have to answer to the American people for my decisions.

It is my hope that those deployed are able to come home safely to their families. There was a time when I was an active duty soldier in the US Army, and at the time I had to assume some risk, because the US and the USSR weren't exactly best buds. If Uncle Sam called my name, I would have stood in formation and boarded the plane, because my country asked me to. I haven't just talked the talk, I've walked the walk.

We won’t be going to “war” with Iran. We may blow some more folks up but a ground war? Doubt it and there shouldn’t be one just my .02. Trump has already shown a lot of restraint in regards to Iran
