Most of the people I know that registered are the ones going to competitions regularly. When cops are often the ones showing up to these things, you don't want to always be looking over your shoulder. I guess there's a lot of upstaters here, but re-registering every five years has been standard in the lower counties for a long time.

Since when did you need to re-register an "Assault Rifle" every 5 years? There was no mention of having to re-register every 5 years after the initial registration. Hoodfu, It sounds like your confusing re-registering your pistol permit every 5 years with re-registering a assault rifle every 5 yrs. You are correct that the lower counties have had the re-registering of pistol permits every 5 years. Westchester, NYC, and both counties in LI.

Depending on tube size, it might meet the LCAFD law.
it has a 6 round tube which is legal. Heck it even complies when they doing the 7 round magazine limit. Wood furniture and brass receiver it is as FUDD of a gun as you can get. Watch them come bust my door down and take it, and then I can sue for them confiscating a gun that doesn't meet the requirements of a safe act assault weapon.

A friend inherited several firearms from his deceased brother. It wasn't until AFTER the assault weapons registration closed that he realized one of the firearms was a 'demonic assault weapon' that had to be registered. He called the State Police registration detail in Albany, asking about registering it. He was told, "the registration is closed, - no way to register it now." -- This was a few years ago, - he's still in possession of the rifle, - no one has ever contacted him about it. We are both waiting anxiously for the day when the SP SWAT team arrives to seize this 'illegal unregistered weapon'. I just don't believe anyone in the SP knows what they want to do about this "imaginary problem" - I'm not too worried YET, and just maybe, - if we are able to vote in a change to the 'Curly, Larry & Moe dog & pony show' in Albany, - things can return to a pre-cuomo stage of normalcy here......aw hell!...who am I kidding, we're all screwed.
I remember pretty well the conversations that many of us had years ago in regards to the AW registration.
