Im glad I only have squirt and nerf guns!
All it takes is one SS-wannabe asking to see your papers. You think the others are going to back you up?
I am talking from over 20 years of experience, you are talking out of your ass. I never had the need for them to back me up, but they offered to if stopped on the way to a competition. Competitive shooters have good reputation with law enforcement, both sides want to keep it that way.
You guys all see where this is going right? Cuomo saw what they did in Illinois. Charging 1000 dollars a day per violation if you don't turn in your weapon. The ol light bulb popped on in Andy's head , and was cursing himself for not doing it before. So anybody thinking about registering their weapon better think about selling them first. Your only going to lose it when that shit storm comes down ,and it will. and nobody is going to want to buy a registered rifle then.
And some time down the road, mass shootings continue with shotguns and hand guns which they will, they will require you to do the same with those.
Registration is the precursor to confiscation. They cannot confiscate without registration. This is where the country is going .
It might be a good time to sell off anything that was registered and obtain weapons that were not .5 years down the road may be to late.
How much longer until emperor Cuomo demands that ALL semi auto rifles MUST be registered?
No one saw this coming...

LOL Hey man, Ive been preaching that for years.
Are they subtly reopening registration? When I went through the links there is an “assault weapon online registration” in addition to the recertification form, and it seems like it can be filled out. Has this always been there?
So in about 30 to 40 years, we will be able to have AR's and AK's while they have laser and pulse rifles. The kicker in all this is that those obsolete rifles will have to be registered.I believe"assault weapons" over 50 years old and standard capacity magazines for those guns that are over 50 years old can still be bought and sold, but need to be registered.

they've stated that
what they say is not what is the LAW ..
find the section and post it for so called AW's .. all i remember is the pistol every 5 years ..
So it ain't law?I never claimed it was documented into law. It was however mentioned during the period when the safe act was enacted, but it's also been listed on the NYsafe act site in FAQ since the beginning too. Anything registered was supposed to have an exact date listed by the state police after approval for the renewal registration deadline after the 5 year period. Law or not, the state police are handling it in the same fashion as pistol permit recerts. Again this is nothing new, people either didn't care, forgot, ignored it all together, or whatever, but it's not new information.
So it ain't law?
It's either required by law or not. Not being a dick or intentionally obtuse but seriously this shit needs to be voted on and signed into law. Or do people just follow blindly?I don't think it even fucking matters whether or not that is put into law or not. There is a law on illegal possession of assault weapons which is a class A misdemeanor if I'm not mistaken though. The assault weapon registrations needed to be renewed like the permits, says the NYS police, but the difference is that an expired registration now means possession of an illegal assault weapon. Without the sent documentation showing that you made amendment changes to the firearm with the provided form, you're essentially displaying to state police that you have an illegal assault weapon in your possession whether or not they put that into the penal code section or not. The default would be a class A misdemeanor for illegal possession. Even if you change your email, you're required to amend the registration form.
