It sounds like much of what was seized was legal parts. I'm curious. What happens to those legal parts?

The police departments will spend a half hour or so to stack them all neatly on a folding table and take pictures standing next to them like they captured the head of the mafias weapon stash to post on thier facebook page. Maybe if they found a dime bag of weed, they'd toss that in too for a special effect. Either way, they will feel real proud even though half or more of the firearm related seized property they took is actually legal for citizens to own already.

All factory guns have serial numbers that can be traced. That is federal law. The manufacturer also keeps track of which FFL a particular firearm is shipped to, and the FFL is required to keep a record purchase FOREVER. And if they go out of business or close up they have to send their records to the ATF. And there is nothing in the Constitution that says "Right to build Arms"... Just "Keep and Bear". And that is exactly why they can outlaw them without challenge. I'm not defending it, I am just stating a fact. Personally, I would never even order one. If it is anything like the so-called "Solvent Trap" thing going around, the ATF and Homeland are tracking these purchases. I don't need ANYBODY showing up at my door for some dumb shit...

The Black Market Dealers, Gang Bangers, and Gun Runners...Americans have given up so much of their freedom in the name of safety that they have almost no freedom, if any, anymore... This is concerning as to what tipped them off, however there is some misinformation here as he was arrested with an unregistered (and unregisterable) loaded unserialized and apparently functional pistol in his vehicle, and that’s what he was charged with.

When you are charged with a gun felony they seize all your gun stuff. They found standard capacity magazines and suppressors too, which are illegal in New York.

There were multiple representations in this thread that ghost guns or 80% firearms are illegal in New York or gunsmithing is or that a law was passed. If so that’s news to me and I have been trying to follow that, so please point to the law and speak up. Pistols without being on a permit are have been illegal all along (and a pistol needs a serial number to be put on a permit.) I know our attorney general wants to go against “ghost guns” but to my knowledge manufacturing an unserialized rifle or shotgun yourself is still perfectly legal in New York if you’re not breaking other laws.

Like I said in a previous post, I HONESTLY believe what got him on the radar was those damn "Solvent Traps"... I mean a typical lawfully manufactured silencer would absolutely 100% require an ATF Tax Stamp just to even own in a state like PA... So there is no way he had those, since NO PA FFL is going to sell one to a NY state Resident. So it had to be those FB Ad "Traps". And there have been several reports, like the video I shared, about Homeland Security showing up and questioning a guy about the purchase of "Fuel Filters". I mean, if Homeland finds a company making these items, how hard is it to tell the Post Office, (which was apparently how these items were shipped) ANY item shipped from this company needs to be reported to us, and the receiving party address provided. That would allow them to know who purchased that "Item" and then they just look into credit card statements to see what other companies the person is buying from and what those companies manufacture. The paper trail would be really easy to follow... That's why I won't buy 80%'s OR those "Filters"... I mean who needs that kind of scrutiny... JMO

They wouldn't necessarily... I just think that in this instance they were probably watching him to some extent... Who knows... Maybe somebody gave him up after getting caught with one of his "Builds". Maybe he bragged to the wrong person... Maybe he just really pissed someone off. Who knows why. I mean yeah, I'm speculating... In fact, everything I have said thus far is pure speculation (With the exception of Feds actually showing up at people's houses. That part is 100% documented FACT) But getting a warrant isn't that difficult in a state where there is so much Anti-2A sentiment. A high percent of the judges in this state are liberal Anti-Gunners. They would probably sign the warrant without question. Moreover, LEOS and DA's know EXACTLY which judges to go to for certain types of warrants. You can trust me on that! 100%... They know who is going to sign off and who will push the issue of probable cause.

That's why I said, it wouldn't be too difficult to figure out what he was buying. It's just a matter of looking up the company web store he purchased from and seeing what they sell. Especially since most companies are listed on a Credit Card statement by their actual company name. Look at your statement and check the listed names of the last companies you bought from. My last purchase says BEST BUY... And yes... I went to Best Buy and bought some stuff... One before that says Home Depot... So all it takes is a quick internet search and boom... I mean, it doesn't take a team of investigators to see what a company is peddling. And whether its Solvent Traps or 80% lowers along with other GOODS, the investigator will have a damn good idea of the type of items being purchased... That just gives them further ammunition on an actual Premises Search Warrant.

And your right. They probably wouldn't t know EXACTLY what was purchased, but they will have a damn good idea of what they are looking for. Especially since our AG sent Cease and Desist orders to a bunch of companies that were shipping 80%er's to NY. So, all of this trouble for ordering something you KNOW could get you trapped off... Is it disturbing... Absolutely... Is it legal... Probably not. Could it be turned over on appeal... In this state... Highly doubtful. And since when has the government ever done anything showing they are willing to follow if not the Letter of the Law... at the very least, The Spirit of the Law... Again... JMO...

It's been demonstrated that the FBI getting a warrant is essentially a rubber stamp these days.

Why? When terrorists are organizing and committing crimes (including gun crimes on the street) with virtual impunity.
