I'm thinking about getting a .22 for some fun at the range. I like the Ruger Hunter but DAMN!!!!! Is that a lot of dough for a .22 or have I been out of the market too long?!?!? And forget the stainless model.

Seems about right. I paid $670 out the door for my Ruger Mark IV Hunter. Add another $140 or so for the Volquartsen accurizing kit. An awesome shooter.

I would have to check but I believe I got mine for a hair under $600. The stainless 7" bull model with the target grips.

I didn't pay that out of pocket though, there was some horse trading involved.

I imagine @Gonzobird is referring to a different model as the MSRP's do vary in the line.

They're all very nice pistols though they may be a bit over priced. I jumped on mine because I have wanted one for 30+ years, some sales went well, and the new model is easier to field strip than an AR. Would I pay full retail? Eh.... maybe.

I got to shoot my friend's Mk III Hunter and it was love at first shot. This was around the time the Mk IVs came out. Had to have one!

I literally just got mine on Friday so not ready to start making upgrades, just curious. I haven't looked at the kit in great depth, just wondering if it's something you'd have a smith do or if a reasonably skilled amateur can do it. This gun is ridiculously easy to take down, to an extent.

@Robin, more on point to your thread, I have known a number of people with Buckmarks who have nothing but good things to say. And from what I understand the S&W'S are nice guns too though I have no 1st hand experience with them.

Yes I did it myself. There is a youtube video on the website you can follow. Not terribly difficult to do.

I'm selling my used like new Ruger Mark 3 22/45 Lite that has less than 100 rounds through the pistol for $325. This .22 LR pistol has a gold anodized finish and is made of aluminum. The barrel length is 4.4" and overall length is 8.5". Capacity is 10 rounds and comes with 2 10 round Ruger factory magazines. The front sight is fixed, and the rear sight adjustable. The barrel is threaded. The grip frame is made of Zytel polymer.

This style pistol with the gold anodozied finish is no longer being made by Ruger so it is quite unique as they now make different colors. I'm not interested in any trades. I am located in the Easton area in the Lehigh Valley, and I prefer to do the transfer at my FFL in Easton. You would pay the $25 transfer fee in addition to the $325 for the pistol. I have bought several of the stainless mark 2 pistols. I gave a 10 inch version to my oldest son, I have one here and a the heavy taper stainless model. All bought used. They are accurate and fun to shoot.
It you get one I made up little rubber sleeves that holds that thumb knob down to load the magazine. I will mail you a couple of them.
I can take a picture tomorrow and post it on here. They work great, you can get the same thing on eBay, but these are free and home made. Locally you can get a used stainless Ruger Mark 2 for around $350.
A lot of the guys here are buying the Victory 22 pistol and love them. A couple of friends bought the Buckmarks as well.

I have a Ruger MKII was my second pistol, nice gun but it has been neglected since I got my Browning Buckmark Contour right after the Safe-act passed really like shooting that more!

You can't put a price on happiness @Robin. I picked up the Mark IV Hunter earlier this spring. Love it. Definitely not disappointed. Will probably put the aftermarket trigger in at some point but I'm satisfied for now.
