Suggestion for 1 piece/cantilever scope mount for AR?

I'm looking in to getting a new scope for the AR, so I'm doing a little mount research now. What's considered "quality", what's not? Is cheap ok? I'm seeing some in these lists that are cheap but recommended, and then I'm seeing some cost just as much as the scope.

Warne, Burris, Nikon, CCOP? I have no idea. I'm leaning towards the Burris mount, but am open to suggestions and knowledge as usual.

My next question has to do w/ the height of the mount. My current scope is mounted very high, but it's what works when I'm wearing cans. Before, I had it too low and really had to crunch down to see. This is perfect height. Will a different scope (1-6x, 30mm tube) require the same mods to mount? See pic.

I've got a Burris PEPR. It's build like a tank and it's relatively heavy. The rings split at 3/9 o'clock so that makes it easy to mount when using a gun vise or mag block.

I moved to the Aero Precision ultralight mounts as I got more obsessed with weight. The split at 12/6 o'clock, along with a hook type engagement at 12 o'clock can be a little cumbersome to work with when mounting. It's still very doable though.

ETA: The centerline of the scope/rings will be pretty close to 1.5" from the top of the rail. I haven't seen these cantilever mounts in different mounting heights so you may end up doing something similar with risers.

They are the perfect height for me and it only gets in the way of the charging handle a little bit on the 10.

I wear foamies and slim walker muffs, so I can't attest to big cans.

How do these raised mounts work/measure? Are they measured from the bottom of where the scope sits? With the risers, my current scope sits about 1.5" (at the base). If that's the case, I'll buy something like those then.

I think they're usually measured from the top of the receiver rail to the CENTER of the rings. If you look at the aero mounts that I linked they have drawings on the individual mount pages that show them at 1.5" for this dimension. The pic you posted looks to me like it's higher than that. Could just be the pic or me misinterpreting it though.

If you can't find a drawing on a website, it's probably worth a call to the manufacturer for clarification.

Yup, you would be correct. After closer inspection. Center point is a c hair over 2"

Well, these are Razor cans, I thought they counted for slim? I dunno

I've got a 3-9x now, came w/ my 308, which now has a Nikon 4-12x40, which I use if I wanna reach out. Stepping this down to a 1-6 variant

I was recommended those at first and I think they're great, but probably not for me. I'll probably buy something for 1/2 the price.

It turns out that the Aero Precision is 1.5" in height, so I think I am gonna shoot for that, assuming I get this scope. Looking at the FDE color to go w/ my hanguard that already is

I have no experience with AR mounts, but all of my rifles save one, have either Warne Maxima or Tactical bases, and Warne Maxima QD or Tactical rings (all mine are steel).

Precision manufactured in the USA. Excellent quality and workmanship throughout.

aero mount would go perfect with that scope. the pepr scope mount is ok but it is an old design that looks bulky with the big mounting nuts sticking out the side.

First like any rifle, get your rifle ergonomics where you need them, grip, lop, etc...
Grab the new scope, a stack of coins and some masking tape.
Tape some coins to the scope and the scope to the receiver.
Get down to the ground with a shooting bag or something for rifle support.
If you are going to use a bypod now is the time to set it.
Then in the ground find your position with the rifle, where it feels best and natural.
Prone you should have a firm cheek but w/o too much pressure. Do this with your eyes closed.
Then when your open your eyes that is where the perfect sigjt picture should be.
So play with the tape, add or remove coins and put the scope where it has to go until that perfect picture comes naturally w/o you having to force your neck or eyes up or down or face fromt or back.
With a bit of tape put witness marks to help you put rings or mount and scope in the precise place.
Right down the height of the stack of coins you ended up using because that will be the height of your rigngs or mount.
Then lets find a good mount that puts that scope precisely where it needs to go.
Unlike precission rifles one has some room to play with the AR but it is a good thing to do because many people end up with mounts that are too tall or force us adjust stocks.
The scope has to go where you need it and not you changing ergonomics or forcing position becausw of the scope.
It is like going to a taylor. You and your eyes are the customer and everything else is to suit you and not the other way around.
Having the right setup is more important than brands.
When I say a small cantilever I mean a short amount of scope hanging as this is to be used and abuse and mechanically a long cantilever puts more torque on the mount and scope itself and it is a bad idea. Some are so long that it is absurd.
Also no matter how strong a mount is not a carry handle like some folks do.
Remember you can play with a comb rasiser but if folks are serious about getting good with that rifle I suggest to stsrt prone confortable since that is going to be your lowest snd possibly most confortable and most acurate shooting position.
Do you have a handgiard with a rail?
If so consider binding them with a small extension but w/o any part of the ring or mount touching that.
This will give you extra rigidity and potentially better consistecy when pushing the rifle specially shhoting prone downhill but really in any other situations.
So remember:
-You first.
-Scope second.
-Rings or mounts the last thing to buy always.

Yes same idea. And even in an AR you want to be as close as possible from the bore axis. Same fundamental directive like any rifle. Some folks end up with crazy setups 1 mile off both ways.
