For the most part, I agree with your statement. But, bait would be nice if used for bears. With our stupid law of not shooting bears out of a group, it begs the question of how long do you have to wait to make sure the bear is not in a group? According to the DEC, regardless of whether the bear you shot was alone, it wasn't, if it was nursing cubs. Not having to hurry a shot would aid in being able to determine if a bear was indeed alone.

Right? And we don't have Sunday hunting in PA. Our regular deer season opened yesterday. Kids in our town get the day off, since most of them wouldn't show up anyway, but I had meetings in NJ so taking the day off wasn't an option this year. I'm debating going back out Thursday night, so I'll have Friday and Saturday morning to hunt. I won't hunt after Saturday morning; that doesn't leave enough time to get it to the processor before having to go back to NJ again.

Yeah that's a bit of a catch-22 alright. But the answer is to lobby DEC to give us some better guidance. I still don't think baiting for bears is fair.
