If the answer is to deliver it prematurely via a c-section or induced birth, then yes.
If the answer it is dismember it in the womb and vacuum out the bits and then "see if it lives" then no.
Of course in the case of rape, it's almost always going to be a 1st trimester abortion, and I think for any reasonable definition of "the beginning of personhood" that would not be a person.
Abortion before "personhood" is cosmetic surgery IMHO. It's like having a wart removed.
Most of the proposed state laws will allow early term abortions. I think 16 weeks is a common limit. Almost all abortions are early term, so we are only ever talking about a few edge cases.

The justices should prepare another false decision for that and use it to track down the leak.
Announce that they are striking down. GCA and NFA and then embed something in the various copies of the documents to find out which one gets leaked.
Can be simple things like an extra space before a period here, and a lower case L in place of a 1 there. You could embed different signatures of that type in many copies of the document and then see which one gets out, then follow that trail back to see who leaked it.

Crazy you say that. I've personally worked on setting up a document Id system very similar in concept. Except I used whole words to be part of the binary flag indicators. Think replacing the word Judge with Justice. The documents would still read correctly but would identify the account which they originated from. Each user had an I'd number. Example, 5 which in binary would be 101. Each bit was represented by a 1 or 0 for each bit position. For the first bit for example 1-judge / 0-justice. In the above example "judge" would be used for user ID 5.
Of course the documents were set to the proper unaltered one at the release date&time.
You would think the SC would have some type of in document tracking system in place.

I have seen that comment alot. But exactly what law was broken? Is it codified in law somewhere the internal deliberations of the court are top secret?
Suspicion is that a liberal judge or law clerk leaked the draft in order to stir up controversy and get a justice or 2 to change their mind. I have also seen speculation the leak might have come from a conservative clerk that wanted to ensure none of the 5 made an embarrassing change. The thinking is they would now be forced to keep their vote to overturn Roe.
I personally think it's more likely a liberal activist clerk leaked it but time will tell. Still, for all the outrage at the leak what law was broken?

A fetus is an unborn progeny. Humans are mammals who through many thousands of years of selection, evolved to be placental because if confers an advantage to a species that's so incredibly K selected.
Parasites are much more insidious and interesting than standard placental reproduction. Although it is quite interesting that the progeny can be vastly different from the parent with occurrences of contiq swapping and various other means of crossing over. That variability is also of course a consequence of selection pressures.
The issue is defining when a fetus is a unique being, and when it's just a union of gamete , but again, to define progeny as a parasite is an obtuse mental exercise.

There are a lot of ways you could draw the line.
I don't think conception or implantation is the right place, but they certainly make far more sense than proximity to a uterus.
I do know that wherever you draw the line it should be based on a clearly identified developmental milestone of the child itself, and should be completely independent of anyone else.
I think for consistency's sake the definition of the beginning of life and the end of life should be identical.
If some old guy in a coma can't be declared dead, then a fetus with the same characteristics should be alive as well.
So we should just take the current criteria used to determine if a patient is "brain dead" and use that.

They wont go for that because then there will be a scare or this or that and labor hurts. People have abortions because they are weak and stupid. The implementation of IUD’s and other birth control make accidental pregnancies pretty rare IMO. I have no problem paying for this for those that can’t afford it because I’m sure it’s cheaper in the long run. More kids in my county are born on the governments dime than not.
