Summertime Rule #1: NEVER, I repeat NEVER swim in a public pool.

You may as well swim in a public toilet.

And for the matter, I wouldn't swim with it. Fanny pack, or in the beach bag is fine. Where I go, nobody steals shit from anyone! Maybe your real question should be if the life choices you're making are correct... Lol!

Well, truth be told it was a country club pool. I didn't want to sound like an elitist ass. Personally I would not leave a gun where kids could get to it - like a beach bag.

Leave it in your car. It's not rocket science.

No offense. If you truly, absolutely, must have it with you, get something small like a Ruger LCP in a smart carry and recycle the ammo for range use when you get home.

Public swim pool. Leave pistol at home or in car? No way. Where to keep pistol while swimming? In backpack on chair, maybe, but can't take my eyes off it for fear some one will get to it. Get all stainless pistol and carry in bathing suit pocket? Water in barrel, cleaning chore - maybe an option. Ziplocs? Very unreliable. Instead here is what I did, put Ruger Lcp condition one in pocket holster (desantis super fly) then vacuum sealed, tiny snip at edge of bag to allow rapid opening. Entire day in water - no leaks. Told wife as I stood next to her in pool - total disbelief. She said I am crazy.

Who else has done this?

Alternative solutions?

Also, any small (glock 26 or less) water-safe pistols out there?

I have a lock box in the truck for when I go to the pool. I wouldn't find swimming with a gun recreational or relaxing, then again going through the ice while hiking/cross-country skiing, or fishing could be invigorating.

They make waterproof fannypacks that go inside your swimsuut for cellphones. Maybe something like that. Id post a link but my phone is being an asshole.

Perfect solution. Who cares if it only lasts a few years at those selling prices? Cheap swimming insurance.
I certainly wouldn't risk a Sig or H&K in the pool/lake/river.
