Swords, where to buy them from

My kids killing me and wants another sword. I’m not really against buying the kid more weapons but he wanted to buy another junkie oriental looking POS and I said no. He’s mad but I told him I’m not buying him another POS. Anyone know where you can get a descent sword for around $200. I know the price point is kind of low but that’s what I’m willing to spend on his birthday. If I can’t get something descent for that price then I’m fine with that and I almost expect it.

Wow. Right on man. They have a good selection and look fairly descent. You’ve been there and they are descent quality? Of course I don’t expect a masterpiece for that price or anywhere near it but I don’t want junk that rattles or the handle unwraps after a week.

Actually, I've never been in the store. I used to deliver to a place next to it, and always wanted to go in and look around but never had the time. I did, however, meet the owner once and he had a full set of armor made of metal and leather. It was all beautifully made. I tried on the gauntlet gloves. They were amazing. Each piece of steel was perfectly fitted and riveted. All I can do is point you to them. You'll have to go see for yourself if the quality standard is met.

My FIL has a forge and we will get there but not yet. I told my kids if they went over and used it with him I’d buy them there own and we could all share it.

It looks like they are nicer stuff than what I have been seeing. What I can say is they seem to have a good selection and be upfront about what you are getting. They say battle ready, usable, or high quality. I’m just looking for something that when you pick it up it doesn’t rattle around and want to fall apart. Doesn’t have to be historically accurate and if it’s not that sharp I can sharpen it.

A friend of mine has a Nazi dress sword and a Japanese sword. I've tried talking him out of one but he won't part with them.

Thanks for the offer. Coldsteel had a lot of stuff out of stock but did have some nice stuff and they are a trusted name. I would have preferred to go with coldsteel because I recognize the name and they list all the materials.
I’ll see what this one looks like when it arrives and go from there. They have a good return policy so if I’m not happy I’ll return it and reach out on the cold steel details.

Thanks to @Tisto for the recommendation. I have to say I’m very impressed with the build and the detail of it for the price. It was $200-$220 and it looks very nice. Blade is tight, hand is nice and even and everything fits together nicely with no gaps. The grind on the blade was a bit off in the one section and it showed a bit of rolling from over sharpening but I hit it with a sharpening stone and in 2-3 strokes it’s perfect. I’m sure I’m not using the right term as there’s no damage and it was over sharpened in one area about 2” and the metal at the blades edge was rolled over.

Absolutely does. I like the Damascus guard and pommel too. It’s very nice. The grip is a tad big for my son so he wants me to sand it down a bit. I’ll need some really fine sand paper before I try it.
