There's a real possibility that there will be a real effort to usurp the electoral college, electing Crooked Hillary instead.

If that happens, I can see how things could get really shitty really fast...

It could happen. The sun could burn out next year as well. Neither, though, will occur.

If for some reason the numbers were to change, I truly feel for those who change their vote. I would also feel for the United States. It would in fact be a very bad thing.

What I will say though, is that in the next few weeks (or days), I would be completely unsurprised if the evil witch just offs herself.

Seriously, she is more of an alcoholic than me, and has many prior, documented health issues. Her record of tantrums and the obvious effect of the biggest upset in world history might just put her right over the edge.

Getting dozens of Republican electors to switch their vote to Hillary is far fetched to say the least. If they were talking about finding one or 2 electors to flip, it might be remotely possible, although still very unlikely. Dozens, you have a better chance of Trump and Pence both getting struck by lightning during the inauguration, indoors.

OTOH, if it did happen, I think a lot of people would consider that a blatant enough subversion of the whole process that the government would no longer be legitimate, and armed resistance would be justified. No idea what form that could take, there is a long way between deciding resistance is justified and picking specific legitimate targets.

I'm more concerned with Trump and Pence having an aircraft malfunction and Paul Ryan moving in. More realistic, just as much damage, and wayyy easier IMO...

It won't happen because none of those that defected would be elected against and let's remember most of them are republicans. Also the Republican Party is miraculously now getting behind and working with trump. That tells me they are ok with him now.

Just imagine how quickly a "Zombie Apocalypse" would occur in NY City if there was a "General Strike" or all of the Trucking stopped. Remember, Manhattan is like the Capital in Hunger Games. I'm waiting for an announcement on rising interest rates and the end of QE.

I think there is something to that, unfortunately. You know they aren't going away and should the Democratic party shift back to something more like it was, then they would have lost the political vehicle through which they were co-opting the US. So they would need to do something drastic to force the change they need to keep control.

It's a liberal wet dream and it ain't gonna happen. I think everyone is QUITE aware of the ramifications of such a thing (civil war.) The EC is not going to risk tearing the country apart for 4 years of Trump. They're just not. And even if they were, many states do not allow their EC delegates to legally vote their conscience. They're mandated to cast their vote in accordance with the popular vote of their state.

And really- who likes Hillary THAT much, anyway? She's the most detested candidate the Democrats have ever put forward. Are they really going to risk a national armed meltdown over that old battleaxe? Nope. Never, ever. The DNC's probably happy to finally be rid of her.

I don't know. When we have reached the point where universities are having "cry-ins", coloring books, emotional support dogs and play- do for people upset about the election. Not to mention some Democrats in Congress needing emotional support dogs. I feel like anything is possible. Though I know you are right.

You guys miss the fact that it is the Republican electors that they need to swing. All the Democrat electors will vote for Hillary.

What they are saying is that they need to find 30+ Electors, who were chosen by the Republican party, to prefer Hillary over Trump so much that they are willing to subvert the entire electoral process.

The Republican establishment might not like Trump, they may even prefer Hillary, but they did not choose lib snowflakes for electors. The Republican electors are going to be party loyalists who were rewarded with the post for being good Republicans.

The next bout of unrest will be when the Electoral College confirms Trump as potus. The usual Soros-paid fruit loops will take to the streets, whimpering with their strap ons, bongs and safety pins. More of the same comedy and no need for alarm. Grab a beer and enjoy the show.

What Spat said is spot on. There is no way possible 30 plus handpicked Republican Electors are going to go rogue and elect Hillary. The chances of that happening are almost impossible.

They would have to be completely stupid to not rally behind the candidate that gave them traditionally blue states like Pennsylvania and Michigan. But then the GOP is full of very stupid RINOs. Still, look at all those flipped states! Go with the hot hand!
