TARGET SHOOTING,

My grandson has the runs last night and when he woke up this morning so he stayed home from school. I got to stay home to watch him. After I dropped the grand daughter off to school at 9 am I figured my grandson can shit nin the woods just as well as shitting at home so i grabbed a new roll of paper towels and a clean pair of underwear and a clean pair of pants and I took him out target shooting.

Didn't need the extra cloths, he shot a box of 410, a few 50 round packs of 22 and a box of 32 Long out of my 327 Federal magnum GP10P.

I picked up two 3 gallon buckets if steel cases a five gallon bucket and a small bucket of shotgun hulls.
I weighed the steel cases, one bucket was 32 pounds, the other weighed 30 pounds. I took them to the recycle center and dropped them off. The mountain across the valley was pretty with the sun hitting it.


The weather here was really nice, close to 70 degrees.


I doubt I will get all the garbage picked up before the rain and snow comes in
Where we go shooting is higher elevation then where I live so they get a lot of snow where we get 99% rain.

Having my grandson into shooting I am spending a lot more time up in the mountains.

It's like every weekend,

I MUST GO, THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING!

after midnight here now ,., so yesterday with my bud , we were so picking on his oldest son .. just turned 13 .. now want to go to the movies with a girl .. he has dollar .. dad how much do i need .. omg we had a blast ... well 20 at lest for the movie , another 10 for popcorn n candy .. then another 20 for pizza n drink after .. get your bow out ...lets go shoot .. a buck in the kill or 50 cents if ya miss .. WHAT .. he's thinking .. i pipe in .. i'll give you 20 for your doe permits .. ok he says .. then dad .. hay i bought them i get 10 .. lol .. omg it was a hoot .. at the end he got his bow out and shot with us .. and his little
brother ( 5yrs ) felt left out .. so i got my old moss 22 out and me and him smoked some mags up ..

Man I was sicker then shit yesterday and today. I prepped a hundred pieces of 38spl brass Friday night while doing my Budweiser. Saturday night I primed them and loaded up about thirty of them with 3.1 gr. Of Clays under a 158 gr projectile.
I went to bed and finished them this morning.

I took my grandson out shooting at 9.30, we had to be back by two for his sister's birthday party.

He did good, he shot most of the 38spl ammo at coke cans, he shot a box of 410 and some 22 ammo threw his Savage Rascle and the Ruger single-six.


I let him carry a 38spl revolver while out shooting. There has been two cougar deaths out hererecently. One about 40 miles from where we shoot, and we shoot in a remote wilderness area.
We seen a half grown cougar on the drive out of the woods about a month & a half ago.
A week or so ago a woman was killed by a cougar in northern Oregon.
And about a month ago a young school teacher was killed by a pack of wolves on Vancouver island.

He is getring really good with the handguns, some times we will shoot against each other for a dollar a shot. He can hold his own.
Sometimes we will bet each other on shots.

I bought a 9mm Ruger SP101 a few years ago, kind of forgot about it. I took it out today and shot it with factory ammo. I think it is a little to much for him rigjt now.
I will be loading some light loads for him so he can shoot it.

I really enjoy this time with him and love the progress he has made in the last two years with his shooting skills.

I picked up two five gallon buckets of shotgun hulls and a three gallon bucket of steel rifle and pistol cases. This bucket weighed 32 pounds, I have started to weigh them and have been writing it down.

he was happy to shoot at a 4x4 sheet of plywood .. hard for him to hold my old moss so it under his arm pit and i'm holding the but up and the forarm too
and help keep in the area of the target trying to sight looking off the side of the rifle ... he was just sitting in a lawn chair ..
last time he shot it i just put one round at a time in it .. this time i put two .. he shot them , loaded the mag back up.. look at him .. i forgot how many
i put in it .. he just smiled and laffed .. pow pow pow pow .. you put 4 in it ..he yelled .. then i put 6 in .. same story .. oh no i forgot .. he had a blast

Wal-Mart has the 550 loose packs of remington 22lr bullets for under $20. I have to pick up a few more, we are getting low. Once the rain season come we will.be doing a lot of reloading, I have a butt load of brass.

We had a lull in out target shooting, Sept. 23rd & 24th I had a table at a gun show, my grandson went both day from 8am until closing at 5pm..

The following weekend we were limited on time, we went, but had to cut it short. I posted out outing.

The following weekend we got rained out. That sucked big time, but I did get to work on our gun room. I needed to move stuff out and do some electrical work. I will get that done tomorrow and then get things arranged.


But today was a great day. We left at 7am this morning and got home 7.30pm. Not once has he asked to go home. We went to a gun show, but that was a fluke, it was last weekend. An old guy said it was this weekend.
After that feasko we headed out to a gravel.pit we have shot at earlier this summer. A friend came up after we got things set up and shot with us for a couple of hours.
My grandson can out shoot him any day of the week.


When he was done shooting we loaded up, stopped for burgers & fries then to a gravel pit we usually shoot at.
My grandson finely maned up to shoot the SKS, once he shot it, it became his new favorite gun. I bought it to flip, I would of made a hundred bucks on it. But decided to keep it a little while, I'm happy I did. It is a really cheap shooting centerfire rifle. I am getting 7.62x39 ammo for $5 a box.


I took a hundred 357 magnum bullets that I water down to around 800 FPS, he used them all up, and he shot a brick of Federal 22lr bullets. He shot a old early 1900s Steven's crackshot single shot 22lr. A Browning 22lr lever action and his Savage rascle.

He shot his bolt action 410 gauge single shot, he loved shouting shotgun.
A beautiful day with my best friend. I really enjoy making these memories for him.
He really developed into a great shot for being only seven years old, I'd bet him a dollar a shot against any one I shoot with.
I can't wait until he is 11, maybe 12 to get some size to him so the guns fit him better and he builds up his confidence.
It is great having him 27/7/365. It was in the cards. He is starting to understand reloading some. He does the simple stuff now. When the time comes he will be taught all there is to it.



We did pick up a five gallon and a three gallon bucket of old shotgun hulls, and about two gallons of steel rifle & pistol cases and a little over a gallon of range brass.


I need to get a Ar15 for him this spring. I did buy him a Remington 700 in 223 with a bull barrel.

We got out this afternoon to do some shooting, we left the house at 3pm.and got home at 7:30pm.
My grandson shot up fifty 357 bullets, fifty 38spl bullets, about 50 maybe 75 22lr and half a box of 410 shotgun.



He is getting better & better at shooting. I need to get some 222 Remington and some 223 loaded up for him to shoot. It's all fun.


I picked up 2 five gallon buckets and a two gallon bucket of old shotgun hulls, half of a three gallon bucket of steel rifle and pistol cases and about a 1/3 of a gallon of brass.
It's all fun.

We got to go shooting today, I did some outside house work today
After I got the gutters cleaned out and washed, half the leaves put in the garden we took off. While my grandson shot I picked up sixteen pounds of range brass..
Some one took a bunch of pumpkins up to the gravel.pit so he was shooting them with the 357 Rossi and the 38spl Smith model.10.
We didnt have much time to shoot, maybe an hour & a half before it got dark on us. It was beyond dark when we got on out to the main road.
I was busy picking brass up so I didnt get any pictures for his photo album.
He found about a dozen clay pigeons some one missed and set them.up to shoot with the revolvers.

If everything goes right I should be back there in New Yorkistan for deer season.
I will know in a couple of days.

Back in the saddle again, finely got to go shooting with my little guy. It's been a while I was back in New Yorkistan for three weeks of deer hunting the weather sucked for a few weekends before I left to go back to New Yorkistan. When I got back the weather SUCKED with rain. We were going to go yesterday, but it was cold and damp so I postponed until today which ended up.being a good call. Blue skies and an open gravel pit for us to use.
It was cold, but enjoyable. Mason got to shoot my 44 magnum Blackhawk with 44spl ammo I loaded a couple of days ago for the occasion.
This opens up several more revolvers for him to shoot. I have that 10 1/2" Blackhawk, two 7 1/2" Redhawks and a Rossi 44spl. He did ok with accuracy with what he shot. He hit several soda cans full of water, a bowling pin several.yimes and a target.
I made four sets of 4 loads for him to try. From 650 fps to 800 fps. He did great.
The 44mag i loaded was little to much some didn't let him shoot any 44mag ammo. He is only seven years old.

I took several handguns, mostly 38s and 357.
Man does this kid love to shoot, and he is. Good. I put him against adults I shoot with at a dollar a shot. He brings money home.


He probably shoots more handgun rounds in two weekends then most of you shoot in a year. That is the main reason I got back into reloading and it is paying off.

It a great time, next weekend if I am feeling better we are taking g all three grandkids up to the snowline to let them.play in the snow. We hardly get any at all.being so close to.sea leval.

I will take a couple of TV trays and two chairs so we can shoot on the way up.there.

New years day we went to the WA. GUNS forum Mews Years Day Shootn Mason got to shoot a few guns he hasn't shot before. He finally got to shoot a AR15. Someone there had a 32acp pistol he liked.


He shot an original SKS and a bunch of other stuff.

I took him out shooting this afternoon. I loaded up fifty 44spl bullets gu or him to shoot. He shot them.allnup plus fifty 38spl bullets I loaded and quite a few 22lr bullets out of a old mossberg 22lr rifle and he shot the Ruger single six.
He wanted to shoot the old style Ruger redhawk.


I.pickedbup two five gallon buckets and a three gallon bucket of old shotgun hulls people shot and left them there at the pit.
There wasn't much brass to pick.up. only about a 1/3 sandwich bag full.
It all adds up over time. I pick up so much 5.56. & 223 I went out and bought a 223 rifle.

We were still below the snow line.
I love it up.in the Mountains. Next year we will.be camping up there. I will be loading a shit load of ammo over the winter for next spring, summer & fall.

I loaded fifty 44spl and fifty 357 magnum cartridges last night and this morning for my grandson to shoot. Drove the 35 miles to the pit we shoot at and there are two groups of guys shoitingnin the lower and upper pit. It sucks but its public land and open to every one. We might take a drive to another pit and see if it is vacant.

Got to the range today and ran some .223 through a couple and some .243. Was clear, a little chilly, but not bad.

We went shooting this afternoon for a few hours. Mason sot up the fifty 357 magnum and fifty 44 split bullets I loaded last night and this morning. His shot a bunch of soda cans full.of water. His shooting is getting better as time goes by.
We went to our usual gravel pit and both the upper and lower pits were occupied buy other guys shooting so.we went a other four or five miles deeper in the woods and set up on a side road to shoot.


It was a pleasant day today mid fifties and dry.



We were close to the snow line on the mountain we were on. Once the snow get lower we are limited to places to shoot. Them mountain roads can be dangerous when they get snow & ice on them.
Some one burned a bunch of wood with a lot of nails in it. I picked up a shit load of nails with my magnet. So maybe it was a good thing going to that spot.


We loaded up and went to the gravel pit after they got done shooting down below and I picked up a gallon bucket of brass, mostly 9mm.
That makes four gallons of range brass i have set aside to separate and clean up. I'll clean it up when the weather turns nasty and I get cooped up in the house. I weighed that gallon bucket of brass, ten pounds.


On the way home I always stop by a store so Mason can get a ice cream bar for the way home.
Today was a really enjoyable time together.

My son is 11 and I try and do as much as I can with him. It’s hard being in my late 30s cause of so much work and house projects. I hope one day to have a grandson/ granddaughter and be able to do what you do with yours. Bravo sir!

I dedicate as much time as I can with the grandkids and take Mason out shooting as much as possible and it is paying off with his shooting skills. I always take a couple one gallon milk jugs filled with water to fill up soda & beer cans for him to shoot. I have three 44 magnum revolvers two 7 1/2" Redhawks and a 10 1/2" blackhawk. He prefers the blackhawk. I loaded 44spl ammo to 750 feet per second for him.

It will all come together for you guys with the kids. Once you guys get good weather in March it will be time to make time. Find a nice place to take them and start them out a little at a time and make it interesting for them.
My little guy is lucky because I have a decent size collection of guns and love going up in the mountains. Out here there are thousands of miles of forest service roads to travel on and find good places to shoot, camp and fish.

We went shooting for 4 1/2 hours this afternoon. A friend went with us and brought several guns and ammunition. The weather was damp but no rain. Mason got to shoot another ar15, a 9mm semi auto pistol, and a bunch of guns I took.







I picked up three - 5 gallon buckets and a 3 gallon bucket of old shotgun hulls to throw away.

Every time we go shooting there are always more shotgun hulls to pick up. People are lazy to leave these on the ground.

We went shooting a week & a half ago on January 26th for the day. Turned out to be very unpleasant for a little bit. A fellow member on the gun forum out here met us at a store close to the pit we shoot at 9am and followed us back in the woods to the pit, about five miles in.
The pit is a split level pit with a berm along the edge so you dont have stray bullets crossing pits.

We got set up and was shooting about an hour and a half when two more guys came and set up to our right side on the other side of our shooting partners car.

I hate it when people encroach upon other people already set up. If there is some one there when I get there I move on to another spot.

So any way the guy that was shooting with us left around noon. About twenty minutes later a car backed in where our guest was parked. The back wheel of his car was about even with the front tires of my truck and the truck the other group came in.
He sat in his car for a little bit. When he got out he was fumbling around with what looked like a HK semi auto rifle. He stood behind his car and started spraying bullets from out target to the target the other guys had set up with both groups at our tables behind our trucks.
This cocksucker has a few screws loose and a few sandwiches short of a picnic. I took my grandson and had him sit in the truck and stay down. In between loading his 30 round magazines I grabbed my target stand loaded our table & chairs and got the hell out of dodge.

We took a ride to two other gravel pits and they were occupied so I took another forest service looking for a place to shoot but it was so steep of an incline almost straight up on the high side and straight down on the low side with tons of switch backs on the road I got turned around and went back down to check the two pits we drove by. They were still there so we went to town for lunch. After our little drive and lunch I thought maybe this retarded son of a bitch might of left the first pit we were set up in
I got back there and suckwad was sitting in his car smoking on a glass crack pipe.
I left there immediately and drove about another eight miles deeper in the forest to a spot we have shot at before. This spot is up hill from the gravel pit we were set up in. After a couple of hours all the shooting stopped down below so we went back down there. Every body was gone so we set back up there to finish the day off.
We shot till it was almost dark.
Mason got to shoot a butt load of bullets and I picked up a shit load of shotgun hulls.

This past weekend our weather turned to shit so we didnt get out. We got six inches of snow and our overnight temperatures are in the spingle digits to mid-teens.
Our shooting is probably done for a couple of weeks. Time to clean guns and load bullets.
