Just popping in to say I had dinner with Nolo (and a bunch of other people from AR15.com) in August at a Syracuse restaurant. It's a slow battle, unfortunately we don't have activist judges like the Left. Which is a good thing but it's still painful.
I'm cautiously optimistic, especially after the Bruen decision.

Cluster fuck? No Sir, there are well laid plans in action here, ones that account for changes in the game, and the players know what they're doing.
The only investment most have made in this action is their unskilled, subjective opinion, all while expecting the benefits from a win.
As a rhetorical question not expectant of answer. have you (those reading this) made monetary contributions to this Lawsuit? Membership in GOA? how about sending a "Thank You" to the Attorney or plaintiff for standing up at great personal expense and time to take this on?
All I read is bitching and complaining from people who have neither the expertise of Law Practice, or actual involvement in the case... Soured? sure, most of us are from being fucked over by the State and their rigged game, and the only way to beat it is having people that know it better fight for us.
I have donated to GOA multiple times regarding this lawsuit.

First of all my cluster fuck reference was related to what the state has been doing to law abiding gun owners for quite some time. Second I actually will answer your rhetorical question. I have made monetary contributions to the lawsuit, I have paid for a membership in GOA, I have contributed to the Westchester Jewish group situation and have volunteered to be a plaintiff, etc. so you can put a cream on that rash of yours and point your vitriol in someone else's direction. No, I have not sent a thank you so you've got me there.

I have made numerous monitory donation to the Jewish lawsuit, GOA, and mostly to FPC and all I get is emergency requests for more money.
If there are well laid out plans great and maybe we’re not privy to that information and if you have that care to share? All we see here is unpreparedness and no standing, no standing and the plaintiffs backing off and pivoting to give us less. Maybe I’m wrong it’s happened before and I’m sure I’ll be wrong again, and yes maybe we will win in the end but how long will it take and how much will it cost us? Also if we are relying on the SC by the time it gets there the Supreme Court could be packed with liberals and we could lose a lot more.
I try to stay out of the political/legal threads and hold my tongue but will say from a legal perspective (and to be clear I'm not a lawyer but have been directly involved in numerous complicated litigation on the corporate side) there is likely a lot of merit with the seemingly piecemeal and disjointed approach we've only observed from the outside. Namely if they go for the whole enchilada and lose (perhaps not on the merits but a corrupt system) it would become settled law and a huge victory for the State. Perhaps better to chip away one bit at a time until the whole facade comes crumbling down. Personally if I was on the legal team the last thing I'd do is share strategy over the Interwebz but my hunch is that may be the case here.... my $0.02.

which is why those directly involved (and I assure you they are and do frequents arfcom) there is so much going on, and you're right about piecemeal and settled Law, that's why the SAFE Act case was dropped from SCOTUS: with the death of Scalia the balance would have shifted to a likely tie in which case the Law WOULD STAND not only for NY but the rest of the Country as well.
There's an awful lot of armchair quarterbacking from people whose extent of Legal knowledge comes from TV Shows, that offer disparaging opinions when a play goes bad as if they could do better, well this suit isn't the first go-round with NYS (NOLO* also won against the State and its ban on stun-guns) This is multi-level Chess, not Checkers, and the Lawyers representing the State know it, and also have almost unlimited resources.
Donations: Hey, I get it, I too receive constant solicitations for donations, raffles, funds, Charities, et.al. Some I donate to, other get tossed with the notice that my car warrant is about to expire.
As a side note: almost all of the request letters come from professional Fund Raisers who collect a percentage of everything that comes in from their campaigns, it's done in mass, it's widely used, and it's surprisingly effective... don't like it? well toss it, that's all I can offer.
As for "inside knowledge" I will say that I have met those involved, some of whom I've known and highly respected for decades, and while I am a member of GOA, that is not the Association I'm close with.

My vitriol comes from those posting here about how things should have been done, the lack of conviction and character of high Court Judges, and how those actually traveling here and appearing in Court are being berated by people (not just you) that don't know what the fuck they're calling out. My presumption in reading yours and other Posts inferred that those going to Court for all out benefits were screwing the pooch with the way they're battling the State... it's a forgo conclusion the State and its Bureaucrats are a complete "cluster fuck" and the Legislature crowned "most dysfunctional in the Country" so I wholeheartedly agree with your assertion and apologize for the assumption.

I am a lawyer and have handled several "gun cases" in NY. In most cases, legal questions are decided on the briefs and the judge's (actually law clerk's) research in addition to the briefs. Don't even have oral arguments in many cases. Legal opinions don't write themselves. They, as well as the briefs are time and labor intensive. The more complicated the case, the longer it takes. Single issue cases like the house of religion case are easier and quicker.
Normally in a case like this the judge generally decides how he wants the opinion to go. One or several law clerks write the draft based on the judge's notes. Some times different clerks write different parts of the opinion. The judge and the clerks kick in around, make revisions, revisions of revisions, rewrite certain sections until the judge is satisfied. Then it goes out. I'm thinking we may get a decision by Friday. We will see.
Having said that, the judge and his staff know that this case is going to be appealed either way. They want the opinion to stand up on appeal. Now the Second Circuit has been a liberal political court when it cames to the 2nd A. However, they have already been spanked by the Supreme Court. The Bruen decision already states what would and would not be acceptable and the NY gov. and legislature did exactly what the Court said they should not do. The judges of the 2nd know if the plaintiffs do not prevail they will appeal to the Supreme Court. It will be the State of NY and the 2nd Cir giving the Supreme Court and specifically J. Thomas et al the middle finger. I don't think the Supreme Court will just let it go.

It should be noted that Nolo is from Mississippi - during our dinner meet-up in August he was flabbergasted what we have to go through up here. There were several different counties represented - some give you purchase coupons ahead of time, some (like Oneida) do not. At least in Oneida you can walk in and out the same day, some counties (probably closer to NYC) have to personally approved by the judge.

Federal court has enjoined NYS from enforcing gun ban at places of worship/religious observation. Judge Sinatra, Buffalo also denied stay pending appeal. Case is Hardaway v. Nigrelli.
