It is theoretically possible for the governor and legislature, each representing a different political party, to submit two different election results, leading to so-called “dueling slates of electors.”

I have not, yet, seen electors formally proffered by legislatures that are in opposition to those certified by governors.

This was the last gasp theory proposed by the Hillary acolytes in 2016. It isn't going to happen in any meaningful numbers.

It would appear that if multiple states send GOP electors just in case they get a favorable ruling by the time of the counting of the electoral votes by Congress on 1/6/2021, there could be a dispute. If cases are still outstanding in a state, and two slates of electors are offered to Congress, Pence could say, "Well...there are two slates of electors. One has the state governor's signature and the other does not. So, I'll accept the one with the signature." Or...Pence could say, "Well...we've got two sets of electors. The state is in dispute. I'm not going to accept either set." Then things would become really entertaining.

None of this will actually play out. But, it would be a perfect start to 2021.
