I have been wanting to post about these guys for a while. Not cheap but a lot of solid features for the dough. I have their Mlok rail on the NYGF build and I think it is one of the best rails on the market. Great company too, I had an issue involving trying to get a replacement rail (original was slightly out of spec) sent to my FFL while I was out on the road. FFL was acting super flaky and giving is all kinds of trouble but Corrie at Centurion was amazingly helpful and extremely patient.

As for the rifle itself, its spec'd higher than a BCM and for less money. CHF, chromed barrel (prolly FN sourced) everything mil spec including a pinned gas block. You can have one with any of the numerous handguards they make and with a few extras like a Geislle or Knights Armament trigger.

I would order one with the 15" Mlok rail (I really like the look and utility of long handguards) the standard B5 stock, the ergo grip upgrade and probably stick with the standard trigger, see if I could get a very nice but less expensive one than the Geislle trigger or outrageously expensive Knights, maybe LaRue runs another sale on their MBT. Ditto the crazy expensive Knights Armament BUIS, plenty of very good, cheaper options.
Frankly I bet this rifle is every bit as good as a Daniel Defense for hundreds less. In fact if they were building these right when I had moved to PA this is what I would have bought instead.

Did you know the initial price was set for $900?
That was a pretty damn good deal for what you are getting. Still pretty good @ $1,200.
I'd like to see them expand their barrel length offerings. A pinned & welded 14.5" would be popular and I could justify (fantasywise) a 11.5" version with SBA3 brace. I already have a 16" and 14.5" AR and I abhor duplication in my collection. Yes, I would like a 11.5" with their 10.5" CMR Mlok rail. They offer factory Cerakote options too. I would take it in the SIG Dark Grey.
And then a Law Tactical folder doohickey. And a pony. And a rifle scabbard for the pony.

I know there are other threads about being a "gun snobing" and what not but seeing this and the price point proves you dont have to sacrifice top tier quality for price

What's the point exactly? Now you have to brace it or SBR it which you don't have to do with a pinned and welded 14.5. Or are you saying they have muzzle devices that long now? I didn't watch the video. I'd just assume that extra difference in length be barrel as opposed to muzzle device in that case anyways.

They're alright. I like the CTR better. Or an MFT minimalist. There are so many freaking AR stocks now days......... but the classics are still the go to.
LaRue makes some interesting add-ons for the CTR, like o monopod, bag rider and most interestingly a reciprocating, spring loaded cheek riser. So it won't interfere with the charging handle. In fact I ordered one. That is why I swapped the Magpul furniture from the NYGF build onto the DD. I am not super happy with the cheek weld I get with the scope and I find that 1.5" rise mounts are about as low as they get, which is what I have now. So I gotta bring my face up.

I guess someone figured out that if you pin a surefire warcomp onto a 13.75" barrel that gives you a 16" barrel similar to what people have been doing with 14.5 and other smaller devices

They're alright. I like the CTR better. Or an MFT minimalist. There are so many freaking AR stocks now days......... but the classics are still the go to.

While there is so many to choose from they are all also so completely different it kinda sucks trying to find what one to like the best.

But at their price point it's nice they went with a more "upgrade" type stock vs the generic style

That's why I'm saying it's a nice touch that they went with a better more wanted style of stock.

I was going to get the sba3 but the A4 had just come out so I figured I'd give that a try

If you are running a surefire QD can then that would be a good way to go then.
Except I am leery of pinning muzzle devices to barrels in general. No way to get the gas block off without destroying the muzzle device and possibly the barrel too. On the NYGF build I put on a narrow profile muzzle device on that a .750 diameter gas block can slide over so no such problems. I would only pin on such a lopro muzzle device. There are only a handful of them on the market.

I super miss my ACOG. I wish I hadn't had to sell it. Maybe someday if I get a short AR I will make that the red dot HD ear burster and I will buy a new ACOG for the NYGF build. ACOGs may supposedly be obsolete now but they are damn fine scopes!

I'm not so sure the acog is obsolete, I really think the acog RMR combo is a wonderful combo, but at that price point you can get something else like an LVPO which is just simpler .

You have said that about the Elcan several times now, you really want to like it huh?
The TA-31 ACOG has a lot of great features not least of which is its compactness and extreme light weight. Good general purpose, end of the world optic, you would die before it would.
Which reticle do you like best? I liked the chevron one but on the second go around I'd like to try the crosshair reticle.

I really do with the elcan hahaha I mean it seems like the perfect option, size wise (1/6 would be nice vs 1/4) but everything I read is just bad FOV over other LVPO.

And I mean we all know if you have a 1-6x how often are you stopping a 2 3 4 or 5 power?

With my scope I am mostly at 6x on the range, if I am shooting offhand at 25 yards I may dial down to 3x and only them for the extra wiggle room it gets me behind the scope. The FOV at 6x is so damn wide on the Kahles you don't have to hunt for your targets much at full magnification.
I am really hoping to be able to get caught up on my bills soon so I can go training with Ben in Pittsburgh soon, I want to see how usable a LPV can be in a close, fast and dirty situation. I am thinking it would be a pain when shooting from awkward positions. Like the Broke Back Cowboy position or around cover. But I want to build confidence with it since it's my SHTF gun.

It's not about the glass quality really. Even with the forgiving eyebox of the Kahles you still have to be centered behind the scope to get a sight picture, as in see anything at all. At 1x there is some wiggle room, at 6x almost none.

Ohes. Well I'll just have to take to a class and see for myself I suppose. I do like the reticle for that kind of shooting. It's a very fast reticle.

Standard GI charging handle or you can spec a PRI gas buster one for $90. I would get the standard one and replace it with a Raptor or Geissele one. I think those two are the best charging handles on the market now.
