Back in the ages of the dinosaurs there was a very good reason animal life became huge: the atmosphere was much thicker, with much more oxygen.

A thick atmosphere also homogenizes the climate from pole to pole. This is why there are fossils of jungles in Antarctica.

So what happened to all the air ? The meteor impacts caused a great deal of air to be lost into space. Forever.

Without a much thicker atmosphere it is very unlikely the earth can be much hotter.

Look at the oft-cited example of Venus. Hot enough to melt lead- but also quite close to Sol - and with a massive atmosphere.

A principle of planning is you must identify your GOAL before you begin. Otherwise, how can you proceed ? How will you know you have succeeded ?

I talked to a Climate Change Activist last weekend. As expected, they were unable to state what a perfect temperature may be, or a year in the entire history of earth that was perfect.

I asked them is the climate perfect now - no, it is not, they said.

Then when ?

Ten Years ago ? Fifty ? A Thousand ?

No answer at all.

So far the only proposals I've heard for "fixing" climate change involves the complete destruction of modern society, with all of its benefits. Everything we have that makes life easier would be gone.

Ironically, we're being told this by people who have an extraordinary amount of these conveniences.

If they were so worried about climate change, why have they not started giving away all their excess? Lead by example.
Don't tell me I can't have a truck while you fly around in a private jet.

That is my biggest issue with climate change and its "solutions." Everyone must live in pre-industrial conditions...except for the elites.

I didn’t hear one single suggestion on how we can improve, just a bunch of emotional rhetoric and scolding that will create further division. If anything, this girl is making things worse.

You get buy in from people through education and finding common ground. This entitled brat did none of that.

They all yell at the top of their lungs "how can you ignore all the scientific evidence" but they never present any.

You can't even get then to claim anything quantitative.

Science works in hard numbers, not inflammatory rhetoric.

That won't even make a mark on our climate. How we are living is insignificant, the real issue is solar and volcanic. Like Meke posted a page back, we're responsible for toxicity of the planet, which can be worked on. We cant do anything for the climate. Well, until we advance to a type 3 or whatever it is civilization. I'll have to find that one.

The looney toons were all up in arms that Bush had gotten a weather machine from the , wait for it, Russian and was going or was giving it to the taliban.
That is the type of people about to control this country, help us please.

I certainly hope that Hummer was actually driven all the way across the country to NY so that she could use it to drive to Montreal. Flying it or putting it on a truck surely would've had a larger carbon footprint than using a normal car to make the drive. Even so, how much of the electricity needed for a cross-country trip would've been derived from carbon producing sources?

The closest answer you'll get to this question is that now is the perfect temperature because everything has adapted to it and a change in temperature will hurt the stasis reached in various geographies around the planet.

It's a bogus answer of course, and a lazy one.
