I finally received all the parts for my DIY cheek riser for my new scoped 10\22.

This will be my Project Appleseed gun.
I have tried to qualify for "Rifleman" three times now!
the best being a 209, with 210 the starting score for "Rifleman"

all three times it was with Manly Iron sights (my Beloved Tech Sight - peep sights), but my old eyes have let me down so i am going the girly route...

a scope!

Materials

Develop pattern

Transfer pattern to 1/8" Black Kydex

Placement on stock and reference marks

Mark bolt holes and Cut out

Drill bolt holes

Clean shape and size form

 

[Phauxtoe]

Boil to soften for molding riser

Form and clamp until cool

Layout stock holes and drill

Install riser with hardware

Didn't do that yet because I am not sure if I will need to add some type of friction washers. (Plastic on plastic can be Slippy)

Good job man. At the top and bottom of your slots you should round off the ends with a rat tail file. Those 90 degree corners can be more prone to cracking.

In the engineering world, we call those stress concentraters.

I made the call for square because the carriage bolts is square as it passes they the Kydex. I also wanted it ambidextrous so my friend could use it.
(Damn whiny south paws!)

After working with this 1/8" Kydex I am confident there won't be any splitting or cracking.
