My best guess was an expensive old double rifle.Been eyeballing a Ruger #1 that’s been marked down by CDNN. Haven’t pulled trigger though.

That is impressively small for a thermal scope.Well, you did say the item that most interests..
In that case I'd say one of these. Just because I'm really interested to see what a thermal scope actually looks like/does. Considering what they cost, and not being around the community of folks who use these kinds of these professionally these days, I kind of doubt I'll ever get the chance.

Anyway , thanks for doing this karma. Very cool man.
What could you possibly want with it?Can I have your truck instead?
Smell the seat cushions. What could you possibly want with it?

@Robin and @SmallGameAddict, you need to like the OP if you want in on the karma. "The like list" is what will be drawing the winner from.
Anyways, so I was perusing Target Sports myself and I saw this:
Barnes RangeAR 5.56x45mm Ammo NATO 52 Grain OTM
Anyone know anything about these? They shoot good? Would they stabilize in a 1-7 twist?
I've not used thermal rifle optics but I have a small amount of time behind thermal imagers. The ones I looked through were pretty low res and it was a little disorienting but the latest thermal tech provides an impressively crisp image. Just imagine being able to see in high detail in utter darkness.I'd just like to give any thermal scope a try really, just to see what it's like. In this particular case size doesn't matter.
Hmmnn. Clearly some testing is required. With my rifle scoped I will begin with 55gr testing.I haven't shot those but have shot other Barnes ammo. Those are Open Tip Match bullets my 308 likes them. Now for the 52gr in a 1:7 barrel i have a 1:7 on my rifle length AR and it shoot 52gr 55gr 62gr well but 72gr match ammo it is one big hole. If the price is right you can't go wrong.
I don't know about a "whole bloody boat load" but I decent little amount I'd think.
