Staying with 62gr might just be logistical, twist rates stay the same, BDCs stay the same ect. I think the Marines have a great all purpose load in the MK318, too bad the stubborn ol Army wants to go with the M855A1. And that's coming from an Army guy.

Well the 1x7 twist stabilizes the 70 gr. The only issue I see is the Marine's Acog's are calibrated for the 62 gr so their hold over marks will be off by a few inches at longer distances.

The Army has no such problems with their red dots.

Those seem fast for the TSX plus the TTSX will get similar behavior.
Also those 70gr TSX speeds seem on the high side from my own experience. It would be nice to know what barrel.
Once you get into the hard barrier there is nothing like the hardened steel tip and the solid bullets although it
is hard to say because this changes with type of material, angle, etc.. The MK318 behaves as a fragmentation
bullet (much harder though) wiht the distiniction that you have about 1/2 bullet that is a solid slug.
the idea vs. the M855A1 is that it is a tad more precitable in soft targets althoug continues to be a good penetrator.
It is also optimized for the 14" barrels with very good speeds w/o running into overpressure.
I would feel good with any of those. Anyone is a nice leap in the modern 5.56/223 round. Perhaps the 62gr TTSX
is one of the most versatile bullets and it is available in civilian version. the tip just gives it a nice coefficient plus
like the TSX expansion starts as early a one two inches in bodily fluids. The impact on speed is what really determines
the effectiveness on this design regarless of the weight. same thing why the 130gr TTSX does so well from the 308w.
It hits like a 270.

IMO trading off a bit of sectional density for speed is ok with this type of bullet and this has an effect on the activation of the bullet for maximum results. They are advertised as 1800 fps but the bullets work so much better above 2100 to 2200 fps impact speed. That is why solid bullets work so well with massive speeds even with lower grains.

Does any one load the 62 gr TTSX in commercial ammo? If so I'm guessing it would very pricey.

Mid 2600 seems more like it from the AR...

you see we already have enough slow stupid calibers so I would bet on speed with decent bullets.
Black hills is very good ammo no matter what.
Double tap has a nice 62gr TTSX and yes it is expensive. That is why I would also opt for the surplus MK318.

I forgot the 64gr power point is an excellent patrol round too. Pretty stout and it holds together pretty nicely.
