Fixed mag option....maybe NY unSAFE compliant? discus..

Isn't that already invented? MR2?There is another one coming out of CA as well it, replaces the bolt catch to keep the magazine from being removed while the rifle is put together. The mag can only come out when the rifle is shotgunned no magazine can be inserted or removed while the rifle is together. That may pass muster because it cannot accept a magazine unless it is broke open.
Isn't that already invented? MR2?
So it is a no go for NY?
I don't quite understand what this part does. It "replaces the bolt catch." But...then what does it do? How does it interact with the magazine to keep it locked in AND prevent another magazine from being inserted once the upper is replaced onto the lower?New California Gun Control Law Thwarted By Clever Inventors, $10 Part
This is what I am talking about.
I usually see a statement like this on every one of these threads, but I have never seen a logical explanation as to why it is true.It is not NY compliant as it can accept a magazine while the gun is ready to fire.
We are all one interaction with a bad officer away from a bad time. SAFE is so vague that a pissed off officer can claim almost anything is a violaton. Is that magazine readily restored to more an 10 rounds, you've got extensions for thzt pump 870 readily available that says it is, SAFE magazine restrictions say noting about being limited to a semi auto, or a detachable mag. ?In California, they write their laws with specific wording/definitions/requirements. People then push those precise constraints to their limits, finding workarounds that are as functionally close as possible to the original. Then, the next go around, they tighten the specific requirements to eliminate the most effective workarounds.
In NY, they wrote the law (SAFE) with imprecise language, few definitions and no technical requirements. People are then guessing where the boundary is, going as close as they're willing to defend in court and creating "workarounds" that may or may not actually be legal, waiting for someone else to get arrested to find out. Some are self-selecting to stronger limits than necessary (I'll include my straight-stock SCR in that), while others are (perhaps unknowingly) one bad interaction with the wrong police officer away from a long, expensive and potential devastating court batter.
I almost envy California (of course, there are at least 45 other states that I envy more and a few that are on par with CA.)
As for this device, the quick rear takedown pin is a neat idea and could be combined with any version of a "fixed mag" to make it quicker. Even with a truly fixed mag (pinned, epoxied, etc), you can get to top loading it quicker and easier with this.
Than how on earth would gun stores still be selling them in that config.?We are all one interaction with a bad officer away from a bad time. By exchanging them for money ?Than how on earth would gun stores still be selling them in that config.?
They sell them based on what they believe is compliant. Some gun stores won't even sell an obviously legal firearm.Than how on earth would gun stores still be selling them in that config.?
I'm saying then wouldn't the po po go after the stores like they did with the bullet button? They sell them based on what they believe is compliant. Some gun stores won't even sell an obviously legal firearm.
It's all about what they are comfortable with.
The Po Po will do what the Po Po will do. There is no consistency with them.I'm saying then wouldn't the po po go after the stores like they did with the bullet button?
You are trying to find a logical interpretation for a very illogical law. I mean that seriously, 4 years of debate and still nobody has a clue! It's because Cuomo has all the intelligence of the stray sunflower seed shell stuck in my shit this morning. Go report that to your idiot master you loathsome, detestable, boot lick, Sub human, drone lurkers!I usually see a statement like this on every one of these threads, but I have never seen a logical explanation as to why it is true.
The NY law simply says no such thing. The law says you cannot accept a detachable magazine. A magazine that cannot be detached without disassembling the rifle cannot possibly be construed to be detachable. The ability to accept a non-detachable magazine is simply not a forbidden feature.
He's no idiot, he's got half of us going much further than even SAFE requires. Most companies will not ship perfectly legal goods here because they dont know, but we cant get a ruling about it either. You are trying to find a logical interpretation for a very illogical law. You will never convince me that any of that was by design. That would imply actuall competence, twisted as it may be, in Albany. He's no idiot, he's got half of us going much further than even SAFE requires. It's like he passed a law that said "we'll arrest people if they do stuff we dont like" and now everyone is falling over themselves to guess what he wants rather than fighting it.
The original draft had wording in it that ad fixed magazine is one that requires the use of a tool. The version that passed omitted that because they did not want the bullet button. You will never convince me that any of that was by design.
