Bend over boys - inflation is poised to get even worse. There are two types of inflation (I am oversimplifying):
Demand side - where increased demand by consumers drives prices up (assuming constant quantities of goods)
Supply side - where reduced supply drives prices up (assuming constant demand of goods)
The fed is raising interest rates because it believes inflation is caused by increased demand. The higher interest rates, in theory, will reduce demand and subsequently reduce inflation. But if inflation is a supply side issue then raising rates doesn't really help and just makes things worse. This article states the inflation we are seeing is supply side driven - specifically caused by increases in energy prices due to reduced output of oil and natural gas.

You will note that ‘row crops’ are the big drivers along with grain and seed products. This is exactly as we predicted it would be because those specific farming costs are the ones with greatest increase from energy, fuel, fertilizer, weed and insect control, and diesel costs.
