Here's the thing.
Neither side is going to be able to back down and save face.
Texas won't, because they know they will lose their elections next cycle. They know their citizens are utterly pissed. The citizens won't allow the state to back down. They will likely end up in some sort of a Bundy ranch situation. It will get infinitely more complicated if actual state national guard units from Texas and elsewhere are involved and ignore federal orders.
The feds can't stand down. Bidens regime has a serious power addiction that they can't risk. They are morally bankrupt and I don't see a scenario where they say "ok Texas, you win. We're going to let you manage your border we're packing it up and going to open the gates in new mexico instead". Nope. No chance of that. No chance will the federal government allow the states right movement and pushing back against the federal government to grow. What do regimes do EVERY time they are threatened?
So where does that leave us?

Texas just needs to take a page from New York's governor play book and simply have the legislature pass a border law. NY's governor violated the SCOTUS ruling on CCW by adding restrictions on locations clearly warned about in the ruling. Governor Abbott should cite the SCOTUS action taken on NY for its actions in disregarding their ruling. Which is nothing. Governor Abbott's legislation will get in line, like NY citizens, for a ruling in 3 to 5 years. I am not joking on this one. The courts integrity needs to be called out. When special interests converge, the SCOTUS is yet another puppet.

I agree, neither side can back down at this point. But here's my take;
In regards to Texas, sure part of it is about elections, because they realize elections have consequences. And primarily they won't back down because Texas/Abbot believes what they are doing is best for the people of Texas, and the rest of the country as well.
In regards to the Feds, for the most part they aren't concerned about the current USA citizens. FUFEDS want the demographics in the USA to change as they believe it will keep the left in power, no secret there.

I think the point is coming soon when law abiding gun owners may throw up their hands and either make their own firearms or even go to the black market. I just get the feeling that people are really fed up with trying to do the right thing as law abiding, responsible firearm owners, only to have more and more rights infringed. And the police and military aren't doing anything to uphold the very basic right written in our Constitution so what are citizens to do?

The only way out of this shit show without things getting very bad is for it to escalate slowly enough that the election causes a regime change in Washington, and *that* causes the feds to change course.
But that's just it. We're in an election year. Biden and the powers that control him won't allow the regime to back down and look weak and give in. No chance of that occurring. They will view it as emboldening republicans and conservatives.
Conservatives have been waiting for this. No chance they back down.
Trump has already come out and publicly supported Texas and bashed Biden.
I think it's growing more Likely by the day we won't have an election or they won't let you vote for the guy you want to vote for.

I support your thoughts and point out that NG are citizen soldiers, that short of deployment are one weekend a month and two every Summer; the rest of the time they live life the same as the rest of us, and Texans tend to be Texans FIRST, and their quick with FAFO.

Hasn't been announced yet, but you watch and see if they don't "withhold Funds" from Texas until they capitulate...The supporting States KNOW this is as much about a rebalancing of Power as it is about shutting off the flow, after all some eight million have already flooded in and very few are processed or staged yet.
