You were reaponding to a post about American soldiers on Iraqi and Afghan soil and questioning if horrific treatment of them was OK.
My point is that OK doesn't enter into it. Nobody in a war is treated OK by an enemy. Trying to draw arbitrary lines that "It's OK to shoot him in the head, but not to cut his balls off afterwards" is stupid.
If you're going to prosecute a war, then go full Vlad Tepes on your enemy, or stay the fuck home. Expect them to do the same.

Its not really a matter of opinion. A good way not to die is not to invade other countries.
As far as the sympathy goes, that's where the nuance I mentioned comes in. That more comes down to why you are at war. In this instance (invading Ukraine) I don't have sympathy for those that invade a sovereign nation with the intent to conquer and take their freedom, the invaders deserve everything they get (and more).
As it relates to Americans, no I'm not OK with it - I'm not OK with us being there to begin with, they shouldn't have been harmed because they shouldn't have even been there. I hate the people that sent our troops to needless wars to die or be injureded. That being said you have to know that the people you are invading might not take too well to you being there and they will likely respond with murderous force and may do unsavory things to repel the invaders, regardless if they are American. We call it a "military operation" (ie. Operation desert storm, operation enduring freedom, etc.), they call it someone invading their home. I'm not happy American soldiers died, but I understand the consequences invading another nation and invading someone's home.
