Win what ?To win.
What you keep dancing around is what Russia is fighting for.
"To conquer their peaceful soverign neighbor" is the phrase you are trying to avoid.
Win what ?To win.
Curious if anyone here has ever worked alongside of trained with Russian Soldiers?
I wonder if anyone is aware of their Patriotism and their love of Nation?
Never trained with the Russian soldiers, but have plenty of family stories and knowledge of Russian history. One can also learn a lot from letters home written by the German soldiers about their experience on the Russian front during WWII.

Bloody damnation. This has been spicy.
Had an interesting picture come over my e-mail transom this morning, but first: a pictorial explanation of the most common ways a hydrate plug ruptures a pipeline:
I stopped paying attention to Kramer when him and Kudlow split.
Bra!! U missed my point! The Ruskies are calling up previously EXPERIENCED military people.
The arm breakers will be working in Siberia on a Soviet Sino pipeline soon.
So, imperialism is back on the menu boys?Goals set forth on Feb.24th more or less.
So, imperialism is back on the menu boys?
"Historic territory" = territory you once controlled, *but no longer do*.Russia is on its historic territory. U.S. is projecting influence from another hemisphere and we are talking about imperialism?

That means the people living there have withdrawn their consent to your government.
So, yea, reasserting that control by force is imperialism.
The word is defined by behavior, not distance.
Imagine Mexico trying to reclaim Texas by force.
"They" do not live there. They controlled it and they live there. People living there didn't withdraw their consent. Break up of the Soviet Union was made by the leaders of 4 soviet republics, who didn't have constitutional authority or referendum votes to do it.
"They" do not live there.
Ethnic Russians may live there, but they owe no Allegiance to Putin, and apparently they do not want any part of being ruled by him.
Your argument is like saying that Mexico has a right to take Texas back by force because a lot of Hispanics live there.
Yes, and now they are part of the United States. We took territories from Mexico that were never United States, Ukraine was a part of Russia for centuries.

In Russia's invasion of Ukraine as in 1914, behind military failure lie deeper flaws, rooted in the fundamental nature of despotic government.claireberlinski.substack.com
Geography lesson aside the main point of the article was the disastrous performance of the Russian army when quick victory was expected. The underlying reasons appear to be similar now as in 1914. An inefficient and ineffective fighting force due to internal corruption and mismanagement with a strategy based on overwhelming numbers of men. Even if Russia is able to conscript a million new bodies that does not guarantee success. There were small parts of Ukraine in Austro-Hungarian Empire at the start of WWI, but to say there was "Russian invasion of Ukraine in 1914" is delusional narration of history. This is how the history is revised in this country. This article is written for the consumption of American public, most of whom are illiterates in history and geography. There is no world outside American borders and there is no history other then American greatness.
Talk about a horrendous escalation. Damn! However, are these strategic withdrawals because the Russians plan to use a tactical nuke and want their troops out of harms way?
If Russia is mobilizing for war and serious this time, they won't need nukes. They will just overwhelm with forces. The 'retreats' may just be a tactic to draw their enemy in closer. Idk...Talk about a horrendous escalation. Damn!
If Russia want's to acquire territory, why would they want it to be radioactive?

I've read that he is personally directing military forces, so there is no one else to blame. If that was the case today, we would see the change of command. I don't buy the explanation that Putin is not told about situation at the front.
Lulling them into a false sense of overconfidence, eh?I am thinking the same thing. It doesn't even look like they are trying hard to hold the line. More of Ukrainian forces fighting in the East, less of them to defend Kiev. Also as it appears to the world Ukraine is winning, there will be less of weaponry flowing from NATO.
