Trump calls Putin 'genius' and 'savvy' for Ukraine invasion
The former president's praise for Putin comes at a perilous geopolitical moment in Europe.

But it's more than just that.
Trump was impeached for withholding military aid from Ukraine for political favors.
He's praised Putin on many occasions, not just this one, for tyrannical acts. Called him a "strong leader" and even congratulating Putin for "outsmarting" the U.S.
Trump dismissed Russian hacking claims in the 2016 election, which later turned out to be true (and to Trump's benefit, no less).
Trump has repeated talking points straight out of the Kremlin on the annexation of Crimea, claiming Crimeans preferred their Russian owners to their Ukrainian sovereignty.
Trump wanted to dismantle NATO, which would have befitted Putin.
Trump wanted to allow Russia into G7, which would have benefited Putin.
Trump withdrew from Open Skies AFTER HIS DEFEAT, which helped Putin.
There's quite a bit more history documenting Trump's infatuation with Putin. The man factually weakened the Western world to a Russian assault just like the one in Ukraine currently.
Bash Biden all you want, but acting as though "this wouldn't happen on Trump's watch" is such asinine horsecrap. Trump would have cheered on the invasion, most likely (as he's doing now, but as President), and let's not discount the potential that he would have taken steps to ease Putin's takeover of Ukraine.
I don't give two shits about whatever "double standard" Putin sees between U.S. condemnations of his actions, and U.S. actions in other sovereign countries. It's not right when Putin does it, and it's not right when we do it. That doesn't mean we have to sit down and shut up as Putin invades another country.
This "we did it too, so we can't criticize" is baloney. It's wrong. We should all be better, and it's righteous to stand up and tell Putin (and Bush, and Obama, and Biden) when they're being warmongering pieces of shit.

First of all, I don't have to stop relying on any source of information just based on your say-so. I understand what spin is, and I understand that most news agencies (politico included) have an agenda and apply their own spin. Outside of Reuters and AP, I don't see a lot of facts-only reporting.
Second, here's a short list of things Trump has never called Putin, but it's by no means exhaustive:

Despotic
Tyrannical
Brutal
Corrupt
Compare Trump's praise of Putin to his condemnation of Putin. Hell, see how much is out there of Trump lightly rebuking anything Putin does.
You say he knows Putin and respects him, yet he misses out on some crucial details of the man's personality. Namely, that he's a vicious warmonger who brutalizes his own people, stifles free speech and criticism, and murders political rivals. All Trump has for Putin is praise. That's not respecting someone, that's simping.
In light of Trumps unending adoration and applause for Putin, calling him a "genius" and "savvy" for his invasion tactics comes off less like "know thy enemy" and more like business as usual for a traitor who sold us out for the sake of his brand.

I don't necessarily agree, if somebody comes on here trolling of course it's going to elicit an aggressive response. Simply expressing a different opinion humbly and without an "attitude" doesn't typically get responded to with aggression. It's also important to have facts to support any contradictory claims. Using sources like CNN or NBC certainly wouldn't count or be considered factual.

The leftist United Nations, and the leftist U.S State Dept, will work together on this just like they have done in the prior examples (Ukraine 1.0, Libya, Egypt, etc.)
If you question any of their constructs, if you point out the puppet strings, if you notice the collective distribution of specifically repeated patterns, you are a labeled a Russian apologist. However, it is critical to retain our reference points to recognize when we are being misled by this effort.
