Putin was supposed to address his country tonight but apparently is MIA. This is not encouraging. I can't believe the people that are cheering this on like it's a great thing, I'm not so sure.
Regardless of what side of this conflict anyone comes down on, a coup or civil war within a nuclear armed adversarial country is not good.
I really don't know if Putin retains power after this, and if not what destabilizing effect will that have? How do Belarus and China react? NATO?

But I just saw a video of Prigozhin meeting with Sergey Kuzovlev in Rostov. Weren't his forces supposed to be elsewhere? It looks like they are pushing on towards Moscow and so far have met little resistance.
It sounds like Rostov is under Wagner control.
I can't imagine how Prigozhin is going to go to Moscow to kill Shoigu (and who else) and then just head back to the front lines. That would be like Blackwater leaving Iraq to come to DC to kill Donald Rumsfeld and then just head back to Iraq like nothing happened and Bush would just let it go... OK, I forgive you. Wouldn't, couldn't happen that way, not here and I doubt it there. They can't just stop there. In for penny, in for a pound.
Maybe he's not saying anything more about what he intends because he doesn't want to stir the population against him.
Or this is an elaborate plan to suck Ukraine into an offensive that Russia will slam the door on. There can be an advantage in drawing in an enemy that way, the defender usually has an advantage. But man that's all some mighty big ifs or one elaborate beautiful plan.

Rostov is a beautiful city, lots of buildings built in classic Russian architecture, so I hope they do their fighting elsewhere if it comes to that.
