I could be way wrong but this is my take.
The casualties are enormous. Its very possible Russia has suffered 150k-200k casualties. But let's stop for a minute and break that down.
Maybe 30k regular forces and the bulk of the remainder are from the Wagner group. By all accounts the Wagner group is getting decimated.
But of the potential 100k Wagner casualties are of value to Russian society? It seems that number is largely composed of convicts, prisoners, undesirables etc... If they get killed off in attrition does Russia think that's necessarily a bad thing?
Think about it, there haven't been many reports of regular Russian units taking the same pummeling as Wagner group has. It seems a majority of the Russian regulars are being held back in reserve still.
Meanwhile the Ukrainians are savaging the Russian forces but their best fighters are being eliminated in attrition by artillery and relentless assaults. Ukraine is losing their best while Russia is losing a mixture of their undesirables, conscripts and regular forces. Who can keep up that longer?

Its out own stupidity for getting into this debacle and putting all these sanctions on Russia. We should not have played these games.
Why would Russia not want to see the USD supplanted? We totally screwed them so I'm their own self interests they are seeking a better way forward for their country and their vision of what they want to happen.
Keeping the USD as global reserve is not their preferred outcome since we decoupled our economies from east and west. They have the energy and want to sell it so why not find an alternative that they can do business with.
I know you get the significance but many others and normies do not, if the USD is replaced then it's game over our economy will self destruct and our debt will instantly matter.

Well, the Russian sanctions are nothing in this. Russia is a bit player at best.
This is China's show, and they are the ones who want to destroy the dollar.
It's Bidens other foreign policy disasters that are allowing it to happen, and the events in Ukraine aren't even significant.
If the Biden administrations goal was to dismantle the US leadership of the modern world, it would be hard to imagine what they could do differently to accomplish it.
