Thinking of getting a sling for MSR.

I'm thinking of getting an adjustable sling for a MSR and am looking at the Redi-Mag 1.2 Convertible for $27 as the mounting style seems to be solid and the versatility good.

I was also looking at a Magpul style with push button Quick Disconect but don't know how secure it would be where attached to the stock.

I have the magpul one from the first video. It's a good sling, but a little over priced if you ask me. I have yet to use it in the fashion it was intended (running and gunning), but have used it sitting and standing to build a better position and it has done well. It is also comfortable when just hanging the weapon off of you.

I think my next sling will be the Vtac listed above.

i am moving towards all QD slings. i still keep some hooks around if i need to go that way.

i use the blue force gear and the Urban ERT sling.

the BFG sling adjusts very well. i do not like the "pull tab" on the front QD....so next time i wont get that stupid pull tab QD. other than that it works great.

the ERT sling is awesome. adjusts well and is easily used on multiple platforms, by just leaving the attachment points on each rifle, and share one sling. what i do is have extra attachment points so if i somehow end up using a rifle that does not have QD points on it i can still get my sling to work. mash or HK clips can usually be fashioned to work some what somehow. (at times i find myself at matches needing different slings.....i forgot a sling. a borrowed rifle etc etc)

i sell the magpul sling in teh shop. these are great options as well. i have yet to put one on my rifle but they adjust very well too.

(on a side note. i am looking for standard issue type basic slings for an Ar15/M4/M16. any leads?)

I ran Magpul during some recent classes and like them alot. I also hear Blue Force Gear has a great sling designed by Larry Vickers and the Proctor sling also has a good reputation. As far as QD goes, Im moving all my slings to QD with Magpul adapters.

Is the ability to change from single point to 2 point of any value?

The VTAC and Proctor are install and leave 'em alone two point slings.
The Redi-Mag can convert from 1 to 2 in mere seconds.

Some of the Magpul ones also convert from 1 to 2 via push button quick disconnect or their proprietary pinchee- grabbee clips.

Then there's bungee slings.....

And the Chineses clones on Ebay for a fraction of the real thing.

I've never used a sling other than to provide support shooting off hand by looping it around my forearm.
When I was enlisted, we only shot the M-16 twice ( got my ribbon twice as well , yay me!)

I am gearing for SHTF type situation not completion or target....
Nor do I want to spend $90 for a Blue Force Gear unit.

Magpul gives the versatility of using as a single point or 2 point. If your buying for SHTF,in a situation where you're actively carrying a rifle (ie; the poop really has hit the oscillating cooling device and theres a possibility of using that rifle in a defensive nature) you probably dont want some Chinese knock off sling.

2-1 conversion possiblity is a gimack if you ask me. I never convert it. Seems people either want one or the other. Most dont want both.

I second the blue force gear/Vickers tactical sling. You can order it with the QD mounts already mounted and I like the short pull tab quick adjust as opposed to the long tails some other slings have. There is also a small piece of hardware available for it that allows you to convert it rapidly between a single point and two point sling.

I use something like this that I made with sling accessories cobbled together. Mine has a quick detach on the end. If outdoors, I will always wear a pack or CamelBak Hydration Bladder that I can attach it to. That is how I wore it in my last years of the military. It prevents chafing and discomfort around the neck when you are wearing gear and moving around.

That is a great looking setup, and appears super functional. Just checked - looks like I could easily add something like that to my Camelbak Delta 5 vest. Any idea how much paracord that takes?

I've used the Magpul MS2 with quick disconnect hook in many training iterations and never had a problem. Got a newer Magpul model to use on my 870 after I moved to the Magpul buttstock and single point sling adapter.
