Anyone remember these? I had one when I was a kid, my uncle lived there lolIt is positively bone chilling how close to a Chernobyl level catastrophe that came! The part where the guy they sent to collect a water sample that was glowing and vibrating in the beaker with radiation gives me the heeebie jeebies! As does the fact that the other unit is still operating! I wouldn't step foot on that island for a million dollars!!
Here is a map showing nuclear targets in the US. If an attack were to happen it gives you an idea of which way to go.

I've already lived in Oregon and Maine... Middle of Idaho looks the best to me.

Eh, all joking aside
I don't know how much you can really do, in this type of situation...Unless you have an underground bunker! I do have full coverage gas masks here, with good filters, but, realistically??? What are they gonna get me? I might live an hour longer! LOL!! Yeah, you can have a good Evac plan? (IF you have advanced notice!) You can bug out (kinda)?? Hotels?? Gridlock alone, is gonna be IN-f'n-SANE, or, damned near ANY traveling is gonna be next to impossible...Major highways, all local roads, etc, would be useless, and backed up for 100 miles!
This book covers a lot ... good readNuclear War Survival Skills by Cresson Kearney at OISM.org
Not sure where you live...at that point your better off to try and hunker down in your basement in a ad hoc fall out shelter. You would want to put as much mass as possible between you and the friendly gamma particles.... Example, pick the upwind corner of your basement so you would be surrounded by dirt and concrete on 2 sides and on the floor above the basement start loading up any heavy dense wooden furniture, couches, refrigerators etc that you could over that corner of the house to try and absorb the majority of gamma radiation.
Its worth a shot...
Sue the plant operator and retire to a free state ?That's fine for a week or two but what if it's months?
I'm thinking central Oneida county is somewhat safe.
Except that Griffiss AFB is likely still a primary target for a lot of foreign nations "First Strike" attack. Being home to EADS and all..
