A must for anyone that has one or more state's permits or a state permit that gives reciprocity with multiple states. I am GTG to conceal carry in 40 states and I travel a lot, it's critical to know all the nuances of every state you travel through. This app is everything you need to keep your ass from running afoul of the law.Out of curiosity with PA is there anywhere you can find of list of places that are restricted/no go for PA permit holders to carry? That's great, but keep in mind that reciprocity agreements are subject to change at any time, and do change frequently.A must for anyone that has one or more state's permits or a state permit that gives reciprocity with multiple states. Always check more than one source for reciprocity information - it might just save your ass. Also, check any source for their update frequency. Information that isn't updated is easily BAD information.
As to the question of reasons why on the PA permit, I had a flashback to my NYS application, and checked nearly every reason available.Well decided to take a drive to Erie PA and got my PA conceal carry permit. Took 10 minutes and was issued on the spot. Cost was 20 bucks, filled out one form, and made a copy of drivers license and nys unrestricted conceal carry permit.
talk about night and day compared to getting a permit in NYS. For the reason one could even put simple self defense, no explanation required. Imagine that! Decided to celebrate by stopping by sportsman’s warehouse and filling a shopping cart with ammo. Then got some chik-fil-a and headed back with a truck load of ammo that nys got no tax money and has no clue what or how much I bought. Suck on that Governor hokey.
Decided to get the PA one as I’ll be spending more time in PA since for now nys has made it illegal for me to visit the Adirondacks as well as various nys forests and hiking trails.
"No Gun" signs have NO Force of Law in PA. I ignore such signage on a daily basis. My local Sheriff had a Q&A session at me gun club a couple months ago and confirmed this.Out of curiosity with PA is there anywhere you can find of list of places that are restricted/no go for PA permit holders to carry? I spent some time late last night reading up on it. Basically can carry almost anywhere except for a few places. Can carry in state parks. Possibly even can open carry although there seems to be confusion on it. From what I understood it is legal to conceal carry at your home and workplace with no permit required. Legal to carry in your vehicle with just a ny permit. I put my carry piece in my vehicle safe, drove down and got my permit, and then immediately started conceal carrying once I had it."No Gun" signs have NO Force of Law in PA. No Force of Law in PA. Carry with confidence anywhere if you have a permit.
No loaded long guns in a vehicle however. This is under hunting and game laws and is a low level misdemeanor.
Milford does it. I was in and out in 15 minutes.PA non-resident pistol permit renewal in 2024
I’ve had a PA non-res permit for 10 yrs. Received my original non-res permit at Scranton and also the renewal 5 yrs ago. 20 minutes and $20 and walked out with new pistol permit. I’ve read that Scranton, Lackawanna County was no longer issuing non- res permits. I live in the Fishkill area and would travel on I-84 to PA, which PA Sheriff’s offices can I go to in order to get my same day renewal?
Pike County Sheriff (in Milford) is closer for you and even faster than Scranton. (FYI the sheriff's office is less than an hour from Dutchess County Pistol.)PA non-resident pistol permit renewal in 2024

This note has been on PA County Sheriff sites for ages, and the Pike County Sheriff office confirmed with us that this note applies only to PA residents, not to out of state permit holders obtaining or renewing PA non-resident permits , and all PA Counties follow this home county only law for PA residents.Pike County changed their policies...
ATTENTION APPLICANTS:
- You must be a current resident of Pike County in order to apply for, (or renew), a License to Carry.
- The address on your Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Pennsylvania State Identification Card MUST be your current residence location. We will accept a change of address card when supplied with your PA Driver’s License or PA State ID. We do not accept PA Driver’s Licenses or PA State IDs with only a PO Box number as a residence.
- Be advised that a Pennsylvania Hunting or Fishing License is absolutely not a substitute for a “Pennsylvania License to Carry Concealed Firearms” permit.
I think they treat renewal and initial application the same. I let mine lapse by a couple of months and didn't have any issues renewing.I went through the PA out of state (OOS) renewal process.....today. My info and experience I'm about to share is as current as can be.
I received my initial PA OOS permit in Lackawanna County (Scranton) in Feb 2014, in person. Pike County, at that time did not issue OOS permits.
I renewed my permit in 2019, again in Scranton, in person.
After reading the updates on this thread and having called Scranton a few weeks ago to check their most current policies about OOS renewals, I learned they no longer offered OOS renewals. They informed me I could renew in Pike County. I just didn't realize it was now required to do it online and not allowed to renew in person. At 11:48pm last night I decided to check my permit for the exact expiration date. My permit had an expiration date of 2/19/24, yesterday. I knew it was in February, I just forgot the exact date. I had 12 minutes to submit for renewal on time. Not what I was hoping for.
I scrambled to get pictures of my NYS permit, my PA OOS LTCF permit, and my NYS drivers license uploaded to the Pike County website, along with their short 2 page application, and credit card payment done before 11:59pm. Not quite the speed typist here. Scanning the permits/license and inputting payment, then pressing SUBMIT took me to 12:07am. My permit was officially expired. I had no idea if they offered any grace period.
2 minutes after I clicked SUBMIT, at 12:09am, I received an automated text message from the Pike County Sheriff's Dept confirming receipt of my application. This was not an approval. They made sure to make that very clear. It was nothing more than an acknowledgement that they'd received it and would process it in the order in which it was received.
At 1:56pm today, just short of 14 hours later, I received another text, email, and phone call from the Sheriff's Department notifying me that my renewal application was approved and that I had 30 days to make an appointment to go there in person, with the same documents I'd scanned and uploaded, to receive my new PA OOS LTCF permit.
Any information contrary to this experience of mine I'd take with a grain of salt. This info is as up to date as you can get. Will it change in the future? I have no doubt it will. I just have no idea when. This info is good, at least for today.
Good luck to everyone else. I hope it goes as smooth as this for everyone.
Oh, one last thing. In Scranton, in person, the fee was $20. This online renewal process was $20 + $5 admin fee + $1.69 credit card processing fee. Total to the CC was $26.69. I was going to tell them to stick it with all these extra fees. Like highway robbery. Lmao, j/k, Well worth it in my opinion.

Last time I checked, PA has a one year grace period on the 5 year renewal date for both Resident and Non-Resident.I think they treat renewal and initial application the same. I let mine lapse by a couple of months and didn't have any issues renewing.

Question
What if you are a PA resident and now live in a RV moving from place to place in PA and all you have is a PO box ??
You mean country? Is the Erie PA sherrifs office good about this or should I go to a different county?
