The stop was justified as his driving was exactly as the officer stated. The officer was quite respectful and nice. Although I gotta say I don't really like how a citizen needs to be disarmed for such an interaction, even if I do understand why the officer would want to do such a thing.
So location of your wallet is reason enough to take your property?
And bring on all the hate you want, but I keep it 100% real here, no matter the hate I get from it.
It WAS a very respectful stop, and I think they both acted very professionally. But removing the gun and de facto claiming "officer safety...because it's next to your license (as is mine and 90% of people that are not evil left handed people)" is a bit lame.
If you want to do that, show mutual respect. Both of you put your guns down.

Actually, I don't have strong feelings about being disarmed at a traffic stop. I certainly understand the LEO's position. They have no idea who a driver is when they're pulled over. They want to get home after their shift, too. So, since a defensive firearm shouldn't be needed during a conversation with a LEO, I'm willing to play it their way if it'll garner some good will, put everyone at ease, and move things along peacefully.
I understand those that believe that a law abiding citizen with a legal firearm should not have to surrender their right to carry to a LEO for a non-gun issue. But, a bit of temporary compromise and courtesy goes a long way.

But in that case, instead of being equally protected from the same things that might threaten a cop, only the cop has a gun.
Given the magnet that cops are for violent assaults recently, I'm personally not willing to give up my liberty for a false sense of security.
I don't know who that cop is, and I want to make it home to my family. There is no reason for me to trust them to be a clean cop, or even if they are, to protect me in a probably violent situation.

Cop didn't know him, and he didn't know the cop. The "I don't know you" can work both ways. What state was this? He might have been carrying openly on accident. Overall a good result but would have been better if he was not disarmed of course. I was given a warning on my R1 a looong time ago. He only gave me a warning because I stopped. Cop said most guys on them don't.
It''s hard to believe that my "best" stop if there is such a thing was in this state by the NYSP while armed. I told him I had a gun on my left hip (judge said we have to tell I won't in the future most likely) all the cop said is "Are you going to shoot me with it" I replied " I was not planning on it" He used his super cop skills and figured if I planned on committing a major felony I would not have disclosed the fact that I was armed. I was not disarmed. He didn't seem to care and let me go with a warning.

Gee I wonder what he's going to say when told to keep his hands up and not to reach. Also while having his back turned to another person with a gun and balancing 400 pounds. The guy on the bike was no dummy. The cop was going to take it either way. He even said he was going to because he saw it.Better for the guy on the bike to just say take it. If he didn't say take it what would that cop have done? Taken it anyway. Just because someone has a badge does not make me trust them in the least. There are most likely more bad employees per capita in law enforcement than most other careers. That can be proven with some statistics by the way. It's the nature of the job. It attracts many really good and many really power hungry. It's never smart to trust someone you don't know who can ruin your life.
I'll go with the cop on this one. I sure as hell wouldn't want his job. No matter what he does, someone will fault him. He does a good job making sure he will get home to his family after his shift.

All Im saying is, if it was supposed to be concealed then wear the proper gear to do so while riding. I ride 80% of the year and make sure all my gear fits properly. Granted I can't carry....yet but I make sure my jacket covers past my belt line. Also he was weaving and speeding so 100% reasonable stop.
