Transport a Handgun Through LaGuardia to FL

i have 2 properties and 2 homes

1 property in FL and I have the CCW for there

1 property in Oneida county and the permit gets issued by Oneida even though I am resident in FL - they are happy to issue me a permit for NYS………only issue is I need it to be renewed each year and I need a NY cop to verify I have no convictions in NYS

But I definitely have both permits

As do we.

We have AZ resident and NY non-resident full carry.

That gives us this:




I'm assuming you have something similar since FL is one of the other widely recognized permits.

I'll have to bring one of my older pistols if I go back to visit though. We have not been adding any new purchases LOL.

We only need to file the normal 5 year renewal with NYSP. Nothing else like you describe. Is that an Oneida thing ?

Honestly I don’t know why

That was simply their rule for “allowing “ me to retain a NY permit that I had to get confirmed annually

it is a pain, as I need to do it in person at the Oneida County building

Will need to ask them the next time, but they were pretty adamant that those were their rules - take it or leave it!!

That just seems like a procedure designed to frustrate out of state permit holders into giving them up.

I can't imagine any reasonable reason to require annual in person renewal.

Yep very good points and agree fully

Especially if residing in FL…….it means an annual trip to Oneida County Town Dept for another 2 minutes to hand over a form

Agreed - appears to be trying to put people off the process

I thought the statewide rule required you to give up your license if you didn't retain property, employment, or part-time residence in a NY county. There's probably no way they check that when you move or renew, but that's what I saw as far as the law was concerned. Am I mistaken? Even moves within state you have to transfer your permit to the new county.

Honestly with the new regime of licenses for new semiautomatic purchases, we seem closer than ever to confiscation, so I feel less inclined than ever to get any kind of firearms permit in this state.

My biggest issue is I need to renew the NY license each year and have to actually go to the Oneida county offices to do so - literally to hand over a form
