Can I get some of the money back on spent on these?Small arms, pfft. What an absolute clusterfk.
Will be a shit show of major proportion ...I do not blame Biden for what is happening here. He's working in part on a timeline Trump provided. I also don't blame Trump.
I blame first and foremost George Bush for this epic clusterfuck to begin with. He knew the soviets had run tails between their legs because Afghanistan is irredeemable. He tried to turn a nation of cave-dwelling luddites who are a modern example of medieval social norms, justice (e.g. maiming thieves, etc.) into a modern, civilized nation. They just don't want it.
Yes, Afghanistan's final, overnight explosion is happening under Biden's watch, but the lesson I take here is that after 20 years Afghanistan was being held together with duct tape. Evidently a lot of cities fell without a shot fired.
We've spent $1-2T here and thousands of lives lost. And for what? So that the goat fucking, women raping savages in the taliban could, the moment anybody civilized leaves, run amok over the entire country?
BTW if you want to read about accounts on the ground this is a great spot: Afghanistan • r/afghanistan
A number of people there have posted about being trapped. They have flights leaving in a week or something and wondering if Kabul will still be allowing flights. Everybody is urging them to GTFO by any means necessary.
I'm not sure that will happen--letting the troops in but not out. The US has thousands of quality fighters in kabul now along with many more stationed externally ready to assist. If the Taliban tries to trap them and kill them it is going to get carpet bombed into oblivion. There won't be a structure left standing within sight of the airport. It would be a never ending bombing campaign like the world has never seen. US troops also will not surrender because they would be surrendering to getting stoned to death in a stadium. Will be a shit show of major proportion ...
from the treehouse ...

Kabul's single point of failure:
Kabul's airport only has a single runway.
High altitude + heavy planes (lots of fuel + lots of cargo/people) = need for the entire runway. Any runway damage can shut it down.
Civilian airport: exposed planes, fuel, equipment, etc.

The Taliban are not idiots. They will let the Biden Junta send in thousands, but they won’t let them leave. (They might blow up a few landing aircraft for appearances sake, but they’ll let most land).
The Biden Junta is in panic mode and utterly reactive. The Taliban and their new Chinese advisors are excecuting a plan.
There are very few airfields or landing sites in Afghanistan that can accommodate transport aircraft, and the Taliban are in the position to make every single one unusable.
Those troops are going to have to fight their way out over land while the Chinese disrupt any attempt at radio guided cargo drops.
Biden Sends 1,000 Emergency Evacuation Troops to Kabul as Intel Agencies Now Say Afghan Capital Will Fall Within 72 Hours - The Last Refuge
In July, Biden said Kabul would never fall. Four days ago Biden said it would take more than 90 days for Taliban to reach Kabul, if at all. Today, Biden sends 1,000 more additional troops to Kabul as it is expected to fall within 72 hrs. That is correct. By Monday the Taliban could control […]theconservativetreehouse.com
The hostage situation in Iran propped up that regime for decades. .. Our country bitched slapped america .... The same thing will happen here...I'm not sure that will happen--letting the troops in but not out. What many in the /r/afghanistan forum seem to think is that the taliban don't want the americans there for longer than they have to be, which means they may leave them along until they all get out, as the US mission there is now very limited: evacuate embassy and maybe some extra citiens if possible.

Bidens day is over at 11:00 am .... At times Trump was working 20 hour days. So, I am going to blame Biden.
Under his leadership and his Generals, this is happening.
Biden is the one that allowed this to occur.
Biden does not have the strength to have done this correctly.
If this drawdown and removal was happening under President Trump, it would have been done much better and that shithole would not be in the situation they are in right now.
My brother-in-law trained these assholes and he said it was the most dangerous task he was tasked with. He also said they were about the biggest joke you’ve ever seen in your life. I’m not surprised by this. Can I get some of the money back on spent on these?
As I understand it (and I understand little about afghanistan) the afghan national army (ANA) has done little if any resistance against the taliban and has basically folded up. So the second their US minders left they lost any will to fight and just ran off to let these places fall to the taliban. This is why they did not blow these vehicles up before retreating.
These were left to ANA and it was trained to use them. Now I presume that those same soldiers will be conscripted into the taliban.
Wrong thread
