Stop. Migrants can't even read street signs. It's not going to work. They will just hire migrants. Have you taken a good look as to who is behind the big rigs lately?

Thats ok, NY gives them licences,no?Stop. Migrants can't even read street signs.
Dont worry, reading or even a basic understanding of the English language is not necessary to drive a truck in NY. They are something else, caught a 90lb dude from from some African country last month trying to shit in between the trailer tandems while getting unloaded.Stop. Migrants can't even read street signs.
That’s what he said and we had the tracker things so we could see the temp was fine for about a day and then increased for the remaining three days from west coast to Buffalo. I couldn’t tell you if it was an owner operator or a company driver. If I had to guess it was a company driver and maybe he shut it off to sleep and not save fuel and forgot to turn it back on. The he shut it off to save fuel was an assumption in my part. It was more than a few years ago. I’m sure I don’t really know how the industry works. It was an entire load and it was costly. If I had to guess a value it was $125,000 five or take.Possibility of getting fired means he was working for a company. Working for a company means the company pays for the fuel and not the driver. Why would the driver therefore be shutting off the reefer to "save money". That fuel cost isn't coming out of his end so he shouldn't care how much fuel that reefer burns.
An owner-op is self employed, more or less depending, so getting fired isn't a thing, going tits up due to fiscal mismanagement certainly could be though.
Even if a company has some kind of fuel incentive bonus the reefer fuel use wouldn't factor into that. Something about your story isn't quite adding up.
Most folks outside the industry don't really understand how the trucking business works.
Incompetent and/or illogical drivers exist of course. I ran reefers for a company fo about a year, you quickly become accustomed to the noise while sleeping however it isn't unknown for a driver parked next to a reefer to shut it off for the night. In general the fuel expense of a reefer unit is a fraction of that of the truck itself so I don't see cost savings as a motivation, particularly since the cost of a refused and spoiled load can be very high indeed. We can't discount the fact that some drivers are just dumb as hell either. That’s what he said and we had the tracker things so we could see the temp was fine for about a day and then increased for the remaining three days from west coast to Buffalo. That's how they do it back home.Had this guy roll in the other day, Eastern European non English speaking. The truck suspension is not dumped because it was parked, he was driving it like that.

I don’t know. All I know is he was freaking out and we could tell by the temp log the only day the load was below or at temp was day one and then it steadily rose for the next two days, and the last day it steadied out at about 64-65 degrees. The load needed to stay at 40 or less although we would accept at 45 if for only a short time. It was about 50,000 LBS of food worth $2.25/pound plus I’m assuming we would not pay for the freight or anything else but that wasn’t my side of things. I’d guess the cost was $125-150,000 and that will make a lot of people say a lot of things.I ain't gonna dispute what Podmonkey says cause there ain't many of us old truckers left,
Looking at that post however........
That guy could say alot of shit bout the shutting off to save fuel or whatever
But to me, being around reefer hauling since '98.....seems like he was having problems with the unit and shut it down hoping to make delivery first
You never, NEVER, just shut it down when loaded.
Do what you can to keep it running and get your ass to a shop.
Been to both TK and Carrier shops up and down the coast, they got ways of keeping the load temp while making repairs
We have lost this country.Well if there is one thing these illegals will figure out is how to count money.
WTF? I mean really WHAT THE FUCK! Give the Basterds a meal card good for three meals a day at the local mess hall! If it's good enough for GI's then it damn well be fine for them! I'd like to add, that meal cards only good until the bus hits the U.S/Mex. border!Well if there is one thing these illegals will figure out is how to count money.
From the Olive GardenVendors charging Massachusetts taxpayers $64 a day to feed each illegal immigrant: report
Massachusetts taxpayers are on the hook for $64 per day to feed each illegal immigrant as the cost of the migrant crisis is expected to hit $1 billion.www.foxbusiness.com

I have learned a good trucker needs to know his worth, don't let companies walk all over you. Anytime a dispute comes up for any reason I tell the office "you need to keep me happy, I am an experienced, competent driver with no substance abuse issues, no criminal background, nothing on my MVR, CSR, no reportable incidents of any kind whatsoever. This industry has a critical shortage of drivers and I can go anywhere and do anything for anyone at anytime so you keep me happy or I'm gone." Best thing is dispatch has actually learned over the last three years that they are my bitch.company drives do as company says....................................
at one time i was an owner/op, did as much of my repairs/maintenance myself that i had tools/know how for
got this gig working as a company driver, used to make simple repairs at work; lights, adjusting slack, easy quick shit like that
then I got my ass reemed, was told I am a driver not a wrench
so many times i was threatened with firing, now IDGAF
i get paid to sit for repairs....easy money
Used to be a requirement for legally immigrating to this countrySpeaking/understanding English used to be a requirement for getting a CDL.
I'm seeing youtube vids claiming NYC shelves are empty and things are already skyrocketing in price due to the trucker boycott.
