I think that Trump was mostly a disruptive force for good. He's no master diplomat. He's no master politician. He's not a military strategist. But, the "experts" in all of those areas accomplished nothing over the last 20 years. By taking a radically different approach, Trump appears to have shaken things up and shaken things loose so that further diplomatic solutions could be tried. It'll be impressive if something good actually comes of this. We can hope.

I think China had a long talk with Kim Jong Un. There's the easy way, and the hard way. He's always chosen the hard way. If he chooses to become part of the international community, he saves face from complete failure. He gains a lot by Trump just sitting at the table with him, just bragging rights. SK and NK can open their borders to each other. China gets the US off their back. American investors gain their sacred cow 'cheap labor and cheap goods'. The international scene calms down. Wall Street skyrockets. Americans love their 401k quarterly report. Everyone's happy.

I heard a foreign affairs expert speculate that much of the North Korean nuclear program was a joint effort with Iran. Iran is doing their research and testing in North Korea to avoid detection. North Korea wants nuclear capability of their own as well as the Iranian money.

Bottom line: If Trump's tough talk and sanctions work and achieve verifiable denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, he will score a tremendous two-for-one deal. That would certainly put him in the running for a Nobel Peace Prize (which they'd never give him).

This is a very smart point to make. NK and Iran are absolutely in collaboration.

There are people who are successful at anything they set out to do. It's a combination of inner talent and correct approach to a problem, a task or a goal. The later is an acquired skill and somewhat of a science. I said it before and I will say it again. Donald J. Trump is the smartest man to occupy the White House, at least in modern history.

I agree. He has his faults. We all do. Can't deny the fact he's a skilled business man. World politics is mostly about wealth, and who controls it. Be quite a feather in Trump's cap if he pulls this one off.

Conspiracy time: North Korea was the testing ground for Iran's nuclear program. Iran now gets the tech who then hands it off to Pakistan (who wants better nuclear tech than their mortal enemies the Indians) and then it falls into the hands of ISIS, Al Qaida, insert terrorist group of choice here. I think that once the Chinese made Jong Un realize he could be a dictator AND rich if he played his cards right...

I really don't see this going anywhere soon. First there will have to be talks about the The Talk between Big "D" and rocket boy. Like who, how, what etc.
Then comes the big question Fukin WHERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the real meeting ? Rocket boy is not going anywhere with out his Military back up, [ he just isn't going to fly into D.C.] While he is nuts, he is not stupid. He knows that there is no where on this planet that we can't TAG him, Both Russia and China will not go to bat for him .
I see this as nothing more that a delaying action.
