This is weapons grade incompetence on the part of the trump administration. Someone's head needs to roll, even if it is Trump's national security advisor (Michael Waltz). A journalist for the Atlantic magazine was included on a text group that included Vance, Hegseth and others discussing the air strikes in Yemen. He received the texts hours before the operation began and included some back and forth musings by the different players regarding whether it was a good idea and how to position it with our european allies.
The writer thought at first this was a massive disinformation campaign. But he later reached out to the administration and they confirmed he received genuine messages!
Brian Hughes, the spokesman for the National Security Council, responded two hours later, confirming the veracity of the Signal group. “This appears to be an authentic message chain, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” Hughes wrote. “The thread is a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful policy coordination between senior officials. The ongoing success of the Houthi operation demonstrates that there were no threats to troops or national security.”
Unbelievable. Words fail.
